The Row Pre-Fall 2014

Amazing work once again. It all exudes luxury and elegance. Women of all ages, as they've shown, look empeccable in thier designs.

it's nice but still overpriced for what it is...

That grey pythong bag just knocked me out ! Absolutely gorgeous

i'd probably wear the row all the time if it wasn't for the already mentioned prices. everything is always so elegant and pretty timeless.

the 60-something beauty entrepreneur linda rodin stars in the row's pre-fall lookbook alongside ursula wallis and esther de jong, models who stalked the runways way back in the eighties and nineties. Ashley and mary-kate olsen have long courted a sophisticated shopper; here, the casting accentuated the elegance of their clothes. Pieces like a faux wrap midi-length skirt in men's shirting stripes, a trim blazer and matching slim skirt in loden-colored bouclé, and a simple bias-cut shift exhibited a cool restraint. The sisters said they were influenced by images of older men and women at work in their gardens. As timeless (and ageless) as the clothes looked, you could call them anti-fashion, except that fashion has lately been coming around to items like these.

In any case, the aforementioned restraint was belied by the olsens' exquisite taste in fabrics. There was a lot of cooing over multi-ply ribbed knit cashmere sweaters at the label's informal presentation this morning, and a fur jacket made from thin strips of mink, fox, and beaver enjoyed more than a few longing caresses. To reinforce their utilitarian theme, the twins accessorized a waterproof trench (extra-long, generously a-line) with a shoulder bag that did double duty as a fanny pack. Hey, if ashley and mary-kate can usher in a backpack trend, who says they can't do the same thing for bum bags?

Was really anticipating this collection and it's everything I'd hoped and more. Great casting.

They get better and better with every collection.

If I were a woman, that'd be all I'd ever want to wear. I just love how easy and elegant it all feels.

I agree with everyone's comments about the prices.

Unaffordable, unfortunately. : /

EDIT: Are they still designing the Elizabeth and James line as well? That Pre-Fall collection is excellent too - love it!

It's definitely refreshing to see that they appreciate women who are rarely given the attention that they deserve. These pictures are more eye-catching because I've been so molded in seeing a particular type of model for so long. Although, it's not surprising considering who their influences are. The clothes are lovely for sure, but at least they are simplistic enough to recreate for the less fortunate.

i find this completely unappealing and lacking in any sort of sex appeal...
it's practically asexual...

no thanks...i'll take eileen fisher over this stuff...
:ermm:...

As softgrey suggested, it's awfully dowdy, and the oversized, shapeless tailoring reminds me of pajamas :ninja: The oversized leather is probably the best feature, due to the novelty factor.

I was kind of wrestling with this collection for that reason as well. There's some nice pieces (the suiting), but I think they took themselves too seriously this time around, the "men and women at work in their gardens" gets a big eye roll from me.

i have to agree…after looking at this more, the work just doesn't match the hype never mind their pricepoints. they may have fantastic and accessible sources to materials but technically it's just amateur which makes their luxe approach look vain and pretentious. in fact,i find it offensive they are treated as importantly as they are when you look at what real designers are doing. they are the celeb equivalent of rodarte,if you ask me. no amount of knowledge or interest is going to make a person a good designer….you have to have the skill to back it up. i'm not buying it at all.
