Style File: The Skinny on Legs

Make of this information what you will: I was recently informed by the publicists for both Acne and Ksubi that the denim makers will be introducing their “skinniest jeans ever” for fall. (Same wording, both times.) Given that neither Acne nor Ksubi has ever been known for the roominess of their fits, this bit of spin struck me as either specious or confirmation of the fact that the long, skinny leg is coming back with a vengeance. Look at the Fall runways—leather leggings, over-the-knee boots, mini everything. Sigh.

I've got several pairs from Primark for less than £8 a pair. I don't wear them for 'best', but for work and just going round town they are great and pretty decent quality considering the price.

i personally think this trend is slowly dying now...

I feel like the superskinny ones could die but the slightly skinny fit is here to stay

bootcut now feels widelegged for me:shock:

^ The superskinny, painted on jeans should die away. Those are just too constricting.
I'm with you on the slight skinny jean, I wear those all the time. Slim enough to enhance some curvature on the leg, while still holding it's shape as a jean =

yeah I know, I don't think I could ever live without them

and the superskinny ones have just reached a new level, the denim leggings:ninja:

^ oh not the denim leggings, those are awful.
I do love my skinny jeans, though. I couldn't imagine not wearing skinny jeans, they look great with everything.

I really adore the skinny jeans, I believe that I might not live without them

But I'm not sure if this trend is timeless for men.

i second this...but to be honest i think my hatred of the denim legging lies in the fact that i look simply ATORICOUS in them...quite a repugnant look for me in fact

they suck on everyone, but i already had hate going for leggings as pants so the combination is hilariously bad to me.

I prefer straight leg or boot cut, since I have some booty and skinny jeans don't fair well for girls with some booty.

I'm a very thin guy so I usually only wear skinny jeans because any other kind just looks big and awkward on me. Since I'm skinny as it is they don't look THAT tight on me. I like all my jeans to have a tapered leg because it shows off your shoes better and it doesn't have that weird crease at your ankle. But I think an important rule is skinny jeans should only be worn by skinny people. And I don't mean to be rude but if you see someone a bit larger or curvier wearing skinny jeans it just makes them look ridiculous.

As for girls, I think skinny jeans look WAAAAAAY better than bootcut or any other style. Bootcut jeans should ONLY be worn with heels IMO.

I always wear skinnies. I couldn't bring myself to ever wear bootcut jeans again. And skinny jeans are so much better than leggings.

My favorite ones are by Current/Elliott. And I have some great pairs from a tacky store called Tally Weijl, their skinnies are cheap but amazing.
J Brands look weird on me, make my butt look square, unfortunaltely. And H&M sknnies are not skinny enough, they sag in the waist and the leg openening isn't tight enough for my taste.

Anybody wearing or heard of 'Skinny Carrot' Jeans? They're basically a mix of regular jeans (at the top) and skinny jeans at the bottom.

This is a description I pulled off a website-
Worn on the hip and loose around the thigh, gently tapering into a skinny fit on the ankle. Carrot fit jeans are set to be the new Skinny Jean this coming season.

Interesting idea!

Well, maybe I'm the only one (since the word legging tends to cause great distress amongst most people ) but I've become a huge fan of legging jeans. By this, I'm not referring to normal leggings with a denim colour/print on top, rather I'm talking about lightweight denim that is ultra skinny! They are so comfortable.

I'm thinking of buying the Current/Elliot's "The Legging Jeans" or in either low or high rise.

Does anyone have these Current/Elliotts?
I tried J Brand's 'legging jean' version on (I can't remember if they were the Audrey Leggings, or their normal Legging Jean style), but found they weren't skinny enough.

I've heard Siwy's Hannah Denim Leggings and Paige's Verdugo Denim Leggings are good. Has anyone tried them before/own them?

^I tried on these C/E ones a while ago. They're amazing! They're really really tight but still very flattering. I ended up buying the super stretch denim version though, but only because I liked the wash of these best and didn't have the money for all of them. But really, C/E are the best jeans ever made, you can't go wrong with them ^_^
Revolve and Reverse have a great C/E selection on sale, I'm thinking of ordering some more as well
