Sofia Coppola used the demo version of You Live Only Once in the trailer for her new movie Somewhere despite Phoenix providing the actual movie soundtrack. Love it when uses their music.

^Me too, thanks darling . Apparently Sofia likes The Strokes too .

I remember how happy I was when I was watching Click and Someday was there !

thank you HeatherAnne:heart:
i love sofia. one of the most memorable scenes from her movies for me is kirsten dunst running with what ever happened:blush:

that's true! it makes me want to see the movie once again just to see it .

i was searching some videos of whatever happened song being played on Marie Antoinette movie, i loved this comment:
What ever happened to good music. You flip on the radio and theirs ****ing Lady Gaga playing. Then you go to school and everyone hates on Justin Bieber just to tell you they love Keshas new song. Damn, people don't even know about Radiohead, The Strokes, hell they don't even know the Beatles.

The New Strokes Album? It's A Punk-As-F*ck Fireball
By Adam Green

Or so promises singer-songerwriter and friend of the band Adam Green...
There are so many reasons that everyone should be excited about The Strokes’ comeback. For one thing, I’ve never seen a bad Strokes concert. I always like to watch the crowd when they play too. People get really euphoric and enraptured, like they’re seeing the light or something.I think Julian Casablancas only said they were doing this summer’s festival shows for the money to be provocative. I don’t think those guys do anything for the money. It’s not like when you go to see The Rolling Stones live and they have, like, 12 people onstage. continued...
But there’s one thing I’m more excited about than the live shows: the album. One of the reasons it’s taking so long is that they each came into recording with, like, 20 songs. I’ve heard a couple of things so far.
There’s a definite metal influence; people never could figure out how Nick Valensi had so many chops but he’s always been a serious shredder. He grew up listening to Pantera. Albert Hammond Jr listens to a lot of Wagner and Handel operas. Fab Moretti has been getting into Native American music and traditional Navajo stuff.
I know they’ve also been using a children’s choir who provide some tribal chanting. There’s also a George Michael-ness coming out of Julian’s songwriting this time. I can also say that I was called up a couple of times by the band during recording and asked if I knew a good saxophone player, so I’m assuming there’s some saxophone on it.
Don’t worry, I’m sure they’ll use it tastefully. They’ve recorded part of it at The Cloisters in Harlem which is like a medieval castle/museum. There was one track I heard that sounded like it was underwater and seemed to have fish sounds on it but I was also on mushrooms at the time, so who knows?
In any case, you should think of them as a punk-as-**** fireball coming towards the UK at a vast speed. Brace yourselves.

First September, then January, now March?
Are you mocking me? :judge:
LINK.

And I so get the feeling Julian is tired of recording in a group, that he prefers doing solo works. This might be their last album together. Sad but true.

yeah i'm definitely sensing that too. i'm hoping once they tour the 4th album and feel the fan love it will change

...still J has a good voice on live show?

Hi all

I am an Italian fans, and I missed them free on Turin traffic festival a couple of years ago. What I am scared about them...if i am going to see them next album tour in 2011 is....Julian still have the voice.

I did hundreds of rock gigs some were after years the band was "in auge" I mean for example I saw Mars Volta in 2008..too late...voice gone!

Smashing Pumpkins...2009....Bologna magic gone!!

tks

Strokes Album Has "Been A Labour" Says Casablancas

Julian Casablancas has been updating Xfm on the progress of The Strokes’ new album. Backstage at last weekend’s T In The Park, the frontman was asked whether the New Yorkers’ new record had been a labour of love.
“It’s been a labour!”, he said. “It’s all good. I was going to make a joke and say it was a labour of necessity, but no, it’s going to be fantastic”.

I talked to Nikolai the other night after Devendra's concert at Terminal 5- he said that the album is going well and that he's getting excited about it. He also confirmed the March release.

So I guess it's hurry up and wait guys :winkiss:

The Strokes Rock for Fashion

Fashion Week has inundated New York City. Everywhere you turn there are models, champagne-flowing after-parties, and musicians enjoying it all.
This year, rock'n'roll is playing a larger role than ever. The Strokes, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Crystal Castles, Sleigh Bells, Hole, and others have all performed for the brand-name-wearing elite. And SPIN has been there, shooting their gigs.
Here, browse our pics from the first half of Fashion Week, including the above shot of the Strokes rocking Tommy Hilfiger's 25th Anniversary Party, Sunday, September 12.

The Strokes Finish New Album

The Strokes have finished recording their new album - and are planning to release it within the next few months.

Singer Julian Casablancas gave the news on his Twitter page, Twitter.com/casablancas_j, explaining that the record needed to be mixed but that the main recording process was wrapped up on Monday (November 15).

"[The album is] still not going to be out for a few months – mixing, etc," he wrote. "But just finally finished it, yesterday actually."

The band started work on the album in New York last February with producer Joe Chiccarelli (U2, Beck, Bjork). In March Casablancas said that he had been recording vocals without his bandmates to prevent himself interfering too much.

The album will be The Strokes' fourth, and their first since 2006's 'First Impressions Of Earth'.

Sounds like a festival I'd really enjoy to go

So they're going for a punk sound this time? If that means going back to their roots Is This It? style and less arena rock I'll be very happy!

^I hope so, Fabrizio said himself the new record looks more like their debut one ^_^ 10 songs is already a good beginning, since it probably means it won't have filler songs like FIOE did.

The Strokes reveal scrapped new album sessions

Plus Albert Hammond Jr says new album will have 10 songs

The Strokes' guitarist Albert Hammond Jr has revealed that the band have produced their new album themselves after scrapping early recording sessions.

He said that the follow-up to 2006's 'First Impressions Of Earth' will feature 10 songs, adding that he is "beyond thrilled" with the record, which they ended up making in his own studio.

Before the new sessions the band scrapped tracks recorded at the start of the year, reports Rolling Stone. These initial sessions saw them decamp to New York's Avatar Studios in February with producer Joe Chiccarelli. They later decided to helm the record themselves with help from engineer Gus Osberg.

The guitarist said that the mood in the band is good, with the album recorded and set to be mixed soon.

"We're all really excited to be stepping into the next chapter," he said. "We spent the last six months recording in my studio upstate and we are beyond thrilled with the 10 songs we have for this record."

Speaking of the finished tracks, Hammond Jr added: "I'm positive that you'll be as excited as we are."
