The Strokes

It is Juliet, indeed. How odd that Drew has her trying on her lingerie. Juliet is a tad bigger than Drew.

And I just saw this on the gawker sighting section. Is the world coming to end. Stop this nonsense, guys! Opra, I'm truly sorry.
Albert Hammond, Jr. of the Strokes at the Living Room last night for the CD release party of The Pierces…whose lead singer (the blonde) was wearing a huge bling-bling ring, because as overheard at the bar by one of The Pierces’ peeps, they are now engaged.

haven't check this place in awhile...:innocent: anyways look what i found

of all the strokes, albert & that cute blonde have been together the longest, almost every time I saw albert out in nyc it was with her.
do you know if the pierces have a website/ do you have tour dates for them?
Id I'd known that was her band I might have checked out living room this week, they send me the monthly schedule on e mail.
I wanty to check out the pierces now to see how they are live.

same here...i think they're overrated.

Their music certainly is cos they are such a one album wonder. However Casablancas' voice is absolutely unique and he would be better off without the talentless rest of them. Also Fab = mucho cuteness. It is just me or is he way way way way way way prettier than Drew

every time someone says that The Strokes are overrated god kills a kitten

No, he is prettier than Drew. But whatever, they make a cute couple. Glad you aren't suicidal over Alberto, opra.

Though I don't agree with you Sienna. ^_^

They're all fabulous, it isn't fair to say the rest are talentless, they are all beyond talented. And awesome. And cute. And lovely. And handsome. And .....

Did you guys see the pics update on their website. Fab looks funny and Nick grew a small beard. Looks rather funny.

that difficult 3rd lP

Gotta say Im a strokes fan. enjoyed seeing them at mercury lounge when they played every thursday for a month w/mouldy peaches.
loved the halloween show at hammerstein too.
they are NOT a 'one LP wonder'! they are a TWO LP wonder & may surprise the world with #3!!
theyre even better live than on LP & in many ways I prefer that difficult 2nd LP to that pop-matic 1st LP.
also nick valensi is a fairly talented lead guitarist & albert can hold down the rhythm gtr side of things. and since jules apparently is most resonsible for the writing of all them, give the boy credit for some snappy tunes. and his filtered singing on the 1st LP is cool, like on 'modern age.'
if it wasnt for the strokes, all the hipsters wouldnt know what clothes to wear. well maybe thats a negative. anyway they are a very importANt band in this century & the world is a better place because of these 5 YOUNG CUTIES. PARTY ON.

strox set list from arlenes grocery 4-29-00

I have a tape of an early-ish strox set from arlenes grocery on nyc's LES april 29, 2000. they perform 3 songs which remain unreleased.

soma
i cant win [i think thats what its called]
nyc cops
in her prime
run run run
rolling rolling
alone together

the ITI tracks sound a lot like the lp versions. soma is the closest and nyc cops is the most energetic. i prefer them live than on CD so i like these versions.
the unreleased songs dont sound as finished or as good as the ITI ones. jules announces 'in her prime' so thats the songs name. the other 2 are very average.
run run is not the velvet undersground's song.
the rolling rolling sounds a lot lie the doors' roadhouse blues but its not much.
I can see why those 3 remain unreleased.
i saw them for the first time in summer of 2000 & they were already better than on this spring 2000 tape.
the december 2000 thursday residency at mercury lounge found them better still & by then they were playing the modern age ep songs incl. last nite & barely legal.

Thanks for getting the new pics up, opra. i loathe fab's hair, unfortunately. it looks shorter than ever before. lose the beard and bring back the curls! i'm going to check out the pierce's video too.

Okay, I just watched the video. I liked the part with Albert, but, I'm sorry, that music is mediocre at best. I wanted to like it, but I just found it broing. Thanks for the link though.

yeah, that seems to be the general opinion of it. and that really is the song that stands out when you listen to a bunch of their songs, the rest is quite boring. but i still really do like that one song (just saying).
