WWD.com

It's a site dedicated to fashion related news and i was wondering if anyone is currently subscribed to it? It's a hefty $99 for a year... and you can't subscribe monthly. So i was wondering if it's worth the money? What do you think of the site?

Is it also possible to share a username? If we got like 4 people we could split the cost?

^well i know some people here on tfs are suscribers (like MMA, right, my dear?), as they post the WWD informations....
and it seems to be a very good source of infos for people working in fashion....
so.... if you're not a professional i'm not sure it's worth the 100$ a year....
I guess, too, there are a lot about business....

^I agree, unless you work in the industry, its sort of waste of the money, but otherwise it can be quite useful.

i'm also a subscriber and i post articles/info on tFS (as does mma, softgrey, ed..., and other members)...

i think it's definitely worth the money, because they post about not only the collections but trends and news in retailing, beauty and advertising & magazines...
if you are in the industry or want to be, it's an invaluable resource...

^agree with kimair

i used to buy the wednesday? or was it thursday? paper
it was the one with more classified ads :)

Yes it is...thanks Kimair:flower:

No...it is not possible...they will find out & not only that...it's unethical as well.

if it does exist on paper, why don't you [Kettlin] buy the newspaper version...
guess it's pretty the same, non?

one question to subscribers : Do you pay the subscription??? or do your office pay for it???

^fashion companies usually buy it. but sometimes i just go to the newsstand and read it over there, you know free :)
the newspaper subscription is more pricey than the website i believe

If your really into knowing about the industry and what is going on, it's very helpful. I read it everyday.
And our class subscribes to it which is how I get it. It's annoying though since sometimes we get a new one every day, or we won't get it for a week and then get a big clump.

Oh! Good thread. I have been thinking about subscribing for years but haven't since it's so expensive. I have heard that there might be a student rate which is around $50. Does anyone know more info or how to qualify for that?

I don't go to a fashion school, I go to an art school but I want to work in the fashion industry upon graduation and that is my primary interest (there are no fashion programs near me). So my school doesn't subscribe. I am very interested in this publication though since it's more for industry people and less for the general consumer. And since I'm not in fashion school I have to keep up with fashion on my own.

Please let me know if you know how to get the student rate. I will be so grateful!

if your school has a fashion department, they might already have a subscription...
i know academy of art (where i went to graduate school) does...
all you need is your student ID# for access...

WWD is def worth it, there are student rates if you contact them and the site is being redesigned and launching in August so it i will be even better!

I have two articles i am really interested in reading and was wondering if a WWD subscriber could send them to me?? I would really really appreciate it.

They are :
- Biella exits Escada
- Escada Restructures, Hammerl takes design Reins

I've tried searching on google but to no luck. I interned there the past summer and really want to stay ontop of things regarding Escada. Thank you !!

could anyone post the pdf files?...for the fashion week days?...

Ok so I "accidently" subscribed to WWD... and I got their bill on the mail and today I got 3 issues... can I call them and tell them I dont want the subscription? or what happens if i dont call and dont send the bill at all??? $99 is too damn much!

CrisGalaxy you can contact them directly and they will cancel it for you. Not sure if they will charge for those 3 issues but i'm sure if you explain ur situation then they might let you off.

^ I called and old them to cancel my account and they canceled it right away! They didnt even mentioned anything about my bill! It was probably the shortest phone call in my life! :D
