NEW YORK, February 3, 2007 – Swapping the Dome at the Soho Grand for the swish environs of the National Arts Club, Threeasfour's Gabi, Ange, and Adi showed their most sophisticated collection to date. Pushing their signature circular cutting techniques and curving seams in new directions, they sent out an asymmetric pieced tank with a slimly wrapped tweedy skirt almost bourgeois in its tidiness. Then, fast on its heels, came an utterly cool metallic leather motorcycle jacket that tapered and draped from the model's shoulders as if she'd worn it for years.

Not all 21 looks were showstoppers. A gray silk gown spliced into heavy fringes drooped, and the head wraps don't have a chance off of the runway—likewise, let's hope, a fuchsia dress with cutouts at the torso worn by Lydia Hearst. But these were overshadowed by a number of better pieces. A quilted silk color-block jacket channeled the best of Koos van den Akker (whom insiders will remember was a big influence at Marc Jacobs and Balenciaga a few years back). And an ingeniously cut tendril of a dress had ruffles cascading from under the bust to the floor. When the model looped her hand under the strap ruffle at the shoulder and swung it out from her body, the graceful sweep of green silk crepe produced a collective sigh of appreciation.

This is how metallic ruffles should be done. Only the 2nd collection that I've really liked so far.

But this:

some very good pieces i agree... but some of it looks a little repetitive (ruffle, after ruffle, after ruffle... it's a bit boring)

true lots of ruffles but a repeated theme that bears looking at!

Now THOSE are colors! Not a one I didn't like, even the browns are special. and though I still prefer the body skimming shapes, even those approaching sacks in this collection were flattering and had other interesting things going on. Well done.

very fluid and light indeed. i don't like everything, but some pieces are really amazing and stand out.

i love how this collection floats and the ruffels add very light feeling to the clothes. shape is very nice too, not too tight but not totally loose either

influence? my god,Nicholas ripped him off literally.

i love that stained-window look in those colour patterns. i don't really like the billowy satin pieces but the more tailored work is lovely!

I'm not keen on those ruffles at all....

The only thing I like is that jacket with the colour blocking.

The colors are beautiful (with the exception of that electric purple, it kind of throws it off)

UGH, i really want them to stop doing satin, i feel like they're wasting their time when their potential could be shown marvelously in different materials, not saying they don't know how to work satin but i feel like it limits their work so badly..and they've been doing in nonstop.

oh well, with the few exceptions, I think it's a great collection, the black/grey pieces are especially stunning.
