Alléluia! No sequined column dress!!
I actually love this!
While I regret the choice of a simple lookbook and I aknowledge the fact that he shared the numerous difficulties he has designing this collection and the previous one, I like the offering.
The SS one felt very « i need to present something to feed my stores » and this one at least has a POV and a strong direction.
I love the attitude!
The are a lot of great pieces!
The opening coat is fabulous, the blouse in the 2nd look is to die for, the tuxedo minidress is simple but great, the two black minidresses with the sleeves are wonderful and I love all the tailoring, the camisoles and even the bags and earrings are great. The ruchés tops are great! And even the trapeze oversized sweater ( I hope it’s in cashmere) is fabulous!
With Tom Ford, there’s always this tension between vulgarity and sophistication and the problem is really to find the right balance. You can introduce underwear for women but not on your collection lookbook. And I think the denim turns the looks more into Dsquared than Tom Ford.
I think a black tuxedo pant or something in Jacquard elevates a look!
After all this time, we have to réalise. It’s not about Gucci or YSL, it’s about Tom Ford. The biggest problem with him has been to make collections that feels relevant to women today in the world...Not people in LA and Hollywood. He can’t compete with his glorious past, he doesn’t have to compete with his past.
Tom Ford is an American brand . And this is great American sportswear with it touches of boredom...
That’s the kind of clothes I see myself buying. I haven’t worn a miniskirt in quite some time but this suddenly makes me want to buy one!
I love this. It’s a nice answer to YSL’s Vaccarello.
