TOM FORD IS THE MAN , YSL under pilati sucks and pilati clothes are ugly he is just hyped because he is european and after all the anti american sentiment , the french love him . His sh*t is ugly , I mean seriously , it made be artsy but wearing it looks like sh*t. Tom ford made sexy clothes and man his fall 2004 collection omg it was just heaven . even their aesthetics are different , tom ford sees woman as sexy confident and beautiful and pilati sees woman as 16th century nuns i mean seriously what do you think a modern woman will like . your comment is no different from what people say of Tom Ford, it has very little substance. While I liked some of the pieces Tom Ford had, there's no reason to say that someone's collection is "sh*t" or that someone's clothing "sucks" when it follows a direction that the house is about.

You comment on what Tom Ford did for women's clothing under Yves Saint Laurent - however, Tom Ford is going to be designing for men, so that isn't really relevant.

As for Pilati, I think he did a nice collection for Yves Saint Laurent (Homme). it's very european, the cut is still there, and he brought a lot of color to the collection, which is what he's about. You're going to see change with each new designer, and if you read what Tom Ford stated about Pilati, that is who he personally wanted to come in after him at Yves Saint Laurent.

Tom Ford personally liked to design for Gucci than he did for Yves Saint Laurent. two big reasons are for that I'm sure. 1: his Gucci was accepted much more. 2: Yves Saint Laurent is much more European and Elegant than Gucci is. Gucci can go crazier.

so, while I'm excited to see what Tom Ford puts out, look at what Stefano Pilati is designing closely, and realize what house he's designing for, before you complain that drastically about him.

and for people who dislike Tom Ford so much: it's really the same as people who could dislike Hedi Slimane for being so fascinated by boys. or for his outlook on fashion. I LOVE Hedi Slimane's designs - don't get me wrong. I just think that we all have different views on fashion - so if you dislike the way someone designs, feel free to say so. but there's no need to hate/bash on any designer. if you dislike them that much, then just don't read about them. or if they get you so fired up that you have to keep looking at them, I think you've got a problem

tom ford turned gucci into a billion dollar profit making company , pilati may make clothes which look good in museum and art galleries and are worn by prissy french people or stuck up fashion editors but in the end fashion is a global market , with people who want wearable sexy glamourous and confidident clothes , Tom ford did that and was about to make YSL a profit making brand when he left because his bosses wouldnt give him full control. Pilati makes clothes which are so gothic or just plain weird , how the hell are normal women going to wear that stuff. At the end of the day , fashion corps want to make money and even pilati has a deadline to turn YSL into a profit making company and if he is going to churn out clothes which make you look like matadors and nuns how the the hell are you going to make a profit?

I dont think you truly understand fashion. Fashion is more than clothes, it's a lifestyle, a concept, a meaning beyond "does my butt look big in this dress?" Actually I was like you and hated Pilati but now I cant get enough of his look, it's so new, so fresh, I love it. I do agree every collection Tom Ford produced was a blockbuster, he made Milan's fashion week worthwhile. Most of the stuff on the runway never sees the light of day, it's always reworked and tweaked, when I was in the YSL store in NYC, I realized...WOW...His clothes are amazing, gorgeous suiting and dresses to die for. Except for those godawful platform loafers, they're soo strange.

personally im a die hard tom ford fanatic and i personally dont like most of pilatis stuff but some of his resort collection and the colours he used on those dresses for spring omg its so different and pretty i usuallly see those colors at indian weddings its nice to see he worked those into dresses.
