try ECLIPSE on WALTON ST, just by brompton cross and off draycott ave.
its quite small but usually the atmosphere is nice and its a local hangout usually... ;)
you go there after shopping for a drink or so B)
make sure you sit either at the end, under the window.
or in the room to the left... go all the way until you reach the window facing the street. its quieter over there ;)
yea that place is good......but you kinda have to go as a couple

its not really a place where u can just go with a gag of friends

You could always try the "Design Museum, " its right on the river, and very close to the Zandra Rhodes museum. Right now it has an exhibition on architecture,

anyway, here some details:

ARCHIGRAM
Ask any young architect to cite their influences and one name is almost certain to appear - Archigram. The exuberant, pop-inspired visions of the Archigram group dominated avant garde architecture throughout the 1960s. Founded in 1961 by six young London architects - Warren Chalk, Peter Cook, Dennis Crompton, David Greene, Ron Herron and Michael Webb - Archigram has remained an enduring inspiration to architects and designers today. Its 1960s experiments also influenced such famous buildings as Rogers and Piano's Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. This exhibition presents Archigram to a new generation.

Hehe never been a problem here

You also have Kosmopol not far from there, Fredrik is the owner of that.

If you go to Joseph, you have the Micheline House just 30 meters from it, one of the best places to eat in London, mucho dineros though.

Also very close to Joseph you have Kenzo
And the Collection is also very close (Bar/food)

 well u could have just said bibendum

everyone knows there..........very famous for SEAFOOD

depends what you like?
what dotn you like in terms of food

i'm not fussy about food and i want to be relaxed, nothing stuffy...i may even decide to cook at some point...

elegant is always the key word and any variation of that...that doesn't have to mean fancy...but a bit special in some way...

...it would be nice to take my friend out for a good meal one evening since we're staying with him...maybe that seafood place would be alright...

what about indian...it's much better in england than ny...but we can get loads of good food here...i'd really like to get a cream tea...a welsh rarebit...loads of tea...some kind of pot pie...bangers and mash...more the traditional english fare...it's just very rare over here...and obviously the ubiquitous fish and chips... :D

i'm going to start making a list of things to do...thank you all for the great suggestions...they are all so helpful!...you're the best... :flower:

I was born in London so I can tell you...whatever you do DON'T go anywhere near Stoke-Newington...it's where I was born and JESUS the place totally sucks...

The whole of central London is a crazy fun experience though.

aww softgrey i'm so sad your coming to London after I'm leaving!! Everyone has recommended great places, there are some I wanted to go to but didn't get the chance. oh so sad

Anyway, just to add to the list:
Check out Steinberg and Tolkien on Kings Road. GREAT vintage stuff although can be a bit pricey however they do have some amazing finds there.

um...for some reason I can't think of others right now but when I do I will post!

THEATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It blows anything in NYC into the gutter. They have the like of TKTS booth for same day discount tickets (crap, I fogot where, Londoners help me out).
Leicester Square!! its a big white booth, opposite Equinox and straight past the lil park bit.

the major designer boutiques are the ones in New Bond Street and Old Bond Street, you find them from Oxford Street, but you need to go down the correct road to reach them otherwise you'll be going round in circles and end up somewhere else lol

if i remember correctly, its the little road to the left of Debenhams! good luck lol

If you both feel whacked after doing HARRODS !!! :o

Go over the road to KONDITORI GLORIETTE for a coffee and a superb cake !!!

leicester square too...feels like times square\
and picadilly circus is like 34th st

all areas i try to stay away from... :ninja:

what do people mean when they say 'the high street'...where are the major designer boutiques located?...are they near harvey nic's? ...are there any other stores along the lines of topshop?...i've not yet been to brown's, so i'm looking forward to that...
Just about every section of London has a "high street" (Kensington High Street, Marylebone High Street)...it's like what we call "downtown" or "Main Street" in the US. High street shops are typical stores you'd find in any mall in the US (Express, Gap, Banana Republic type stores). Hope that helps...

Hi...I'm sure you love fashion, and wot fashion person dosen't love fashion mags...You must go buy some fashion reads from R.D. Franks...I just LOVE this store soo much...R.D. Franks Kent House Market Place London W1W 8HY

Oh I don't think anyone said anything about Selfridges...You should check out their superbrands department...I'm sure you've been to Bergdorf Goodman...It's some wot like that in the fact that they have mini stores within one big store...Some of the lables they have are,Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Chloe, Balenciaga, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry and Marni this is all on the 2nd floor...I can't remeber which others ones they have I think there were a few more....400 Oxford Street, London W1A 1AB

Softgrey, do you know where you are staying yet? I do a LOT of book-buying when I'm in London and if you're interested in that at all, I can make some recommendations.
