Someone I know is suppose to go there for 3 days and I have a few questions.
Would you go there for a job?
Is it safe to travel there by yourself?
Should you get certain shots before you go?
Am I nuts for even considering any of the above?

I have a friend form Seoul, it's pretty safe from my udnerstanding.

PM AlmostFamous, I knwo she did soem work there.

If you don't know the language and you are in a foreign place than you should be with someone.

i'm not quite sure with this but i heard there's a conflict between the northern part of korea and the southern. a lot of the koreans are moving out of their country. so maybe you should check this info out coz if there is really a conflict, it could affec the whole economy and society. just my two cents worth.

I think she has a friend going on a modeling job. I thoiught they were like supervised.

There has been conflict between North and South Korea for nearly 50 years. It's safe to visit from what I hear, and I live near a heavily Korean populated area, and have many Korean friends. Great people.

One of my customers went to North Korea on business a few months ago so it should be OK.

There is nothing new with the conflict between North and South.

And no, there shouldn't be a problem with you going there. At least when I went, I was not required to get any shots, etc.

do you still need some info on korea??? i can help :flower:

its safe to travel, and no, you dont have to get any shots,
but what kind of jobs are we talking about?

Where in korea is she thinking about going?
It is very safe. Yes, there's been a conflict since the war but Koreans go about their business. It's only political. It 's like any other modern city. I was just there a month ago.

I used to go there to work quite often.

You don't need shots and its one of the safest countries in the world .

The food can be a bit difficult to get used to, but so I've heard its the healthiest diet in the world - when I was there for two weeks or more, when I came back home, I'd be glowing with health.

Edited to add: I've been making business trips out there on my own since I was 21. I always go out jogging in the morning wherever I travel - no problem in South Korea. I'n the old days, it used to be more like China, the last time I went, about a year ago, I found it very hard to distinguish from Japan - i.e. modern and high tech. They have the best cellphones out there - years ahead of ours. ^_^

My goodness, people are so paranoid and sheltered about any place besides Europe or America. Geez, South Korea is a fabulous place and very metropolitan. It's not like going to the heart of the Iraq war or anything. Most people there can speak at least some english. They are very very welcoming and polite. It's not UNSAFE or life threatening to be there. Of course you have to be careful but it's not like walking in a land mine. The food is AMAZING and in general the place is very SANITARY.

I have to say - the so called war on terror does encourage people to listen to a lot of untrue bullsh*t.

I found the food quite tough at first (not a kimchi fan), but I'm used to it now.
