trends / new styles you wish would happen

i wish for masks.

i wish everywhere was like the court of hidden faces.

hmmm, i'd love to see that, very 'the day after' i like the idea fixoid.. :ninja:

Ah, like masquerade in the Phantom of the Opera! Lovely! Would love to see that!

hmmm...this is a toughy, because like so many of you have rightly said, if you like something, just wear it, but if it not a trend, its hard to buy!

my only fantasy is a world where every day was a musical (though more simpsons-esque than sound of music), so i guess everyday as fancy dress would be befitting, but that would also be my worst nightmare.

ive always had a fascination with medieval times...any tights, chaps?

Me too...I think it started while I was studying abroad in Prague - and just living in the city surrounded by all the medieval churches and cobblestone streets.....I just wanted to steal one of those museum armours and pretend I was joan of arc.....or someone else for the lack of a better example.

Things I wish that were worn more

Tartan
Cardigans with a deep V for men
Casual but sleek derbies.
fitted tie-dye t-shirts
Pearl Jam t-shirts
T-shirts with the image of intellectuals, writers, presidents, judges, philosophers, playwrites, people other than che guevera and bob marley
untraditional seersucker

Jeans that are actually made of thick, non-overstressed denim that actually lasts for more than a year without falling apart

HERE, HERE!

I want those too!!

I wish people would suddenly stop caring about trends and would wear what they think looks good, and designers would start to be original and actually do what they please instead of trends...And every shop would be full of different clothes, not just clothes from one season/trend...It's an utopia though.

....

agreed, heavier, raw jean fabrics should be growing to a legit trend.. dark non-distressed jeans are so fresh and really catching up at the moment, Levis has some great (but still low waisted) styles

on trends, we need to realise that usually they emerge either from 'popular demand' or from 'non-availability'
for example, the Balenciaga engineered trend on 'reglan' sleeves for fw0607 will be certainly working since we havent seen 'reglan' sleeves for such a long time..
the recent black-shine trend which is just about everyone's collection, shows a 'streetwear' need for a more 'elaborate' use of black..
the new trouser/dress direction comes naturally following a good number of skirt seasons
the 'gather neckline' evident in most of the fw0607 catwalks takes a lead from the huge streetwear success of the 'gathered' neckline which actually was already a hot while selling at Zara etc two winters ago.

we need to understand that trends don't land on earth from outer space
also note that most major trends start by evolving on possible mass appeal of what we call 'personal style' (see: non trendy, original takes on style)
that's why steetstyle and personal taste remains fundamentally directional, now more than ever

i wish that reading and writing and being smart and literate would become a trend...
i am so tired of hearing random people use words incorrectly and spell things wrong and then get pissy when you correct them...

**fine-go ahead-
sound like an idiot... ...
not my problem...
but don't expect anyone to take you seriously until you learn how to express yourself in an intelligent fashion...

smart is stylish!!!....
:smartass:

Let them happy in their ignorance. It's much better than seeming pedantic.

^^ I feel your pain, softie...

Languge is what I do for a living, sort of, and it's a pain to hear and see it misused... But correcting it is not a good idea most of the time, I only do it if it's in a professional context where it needs to be.

" – You're such a wisserbesser!

– It's "besserwisser"!

– That's my point..."

:P

looking polished in general

you dont have to dress up but just wear clothes that are well tailored and right for the body and appropriate for the occassion

more natural hair and makeup, pristine grooming shouldnt look so fake

Looking for the meaning, what is a besserwisser? Is it a German translation of know-it-all?
Cheers, Rachel

having a bit of imperfection should be a trend.

im sick of people looking like dolls with a truckload of make-up !

^Second that, and,

...I feel so boring and predictable when saying this, but still,

what I really wish is that the normative body type would be one that can be maintained by eating like a normal person. Whatever people may say, you still need to be skinny to "look good". Seem like we're still hopelessly stuck in the either plus-size or "normal" (=underweight) -classification. Will it n e v e r end????
