Sam's Coming Home

He is coming back to his homeplace.

it's just a hour away from me.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A star from an HBO original series will highlight Charleston's largest Halloween event.
During a news conference Wednesday, the city announced Charleston native Sam Trammell will be the headliner of HallowEast.
Trammell plays a shape-shifter, changing from a man to animal and back again on the Emmy Award-winning HBO original series "True Blood."
"I really am thrilled to be coming back to Charleston," Sam Trammell said. "I consider Charleston home. My mom and dad still live there. I really miss it, and I’m excited to see all my friends and family. It’s great to be coming home."
HallowEast is set for October 28-31. The festivities officially start on Wednesday with "Main Street Murder Mystery" at the Women's Club of Charleston. Tickets are $35.
A four-day exhibit will also open on October 28 at 1598 Washington Street East. The exhibit will showcase the visions of Halloween from more than 30 artists.
An evening of Trick-or-Treat is set for October 29 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and includes participation from East End businesses.
According to the news release, Trammell’s visit will support the work of East End Main Street.
Trammell will be the headliner of EEMS’s first annual HallowEast fundraiser, participating in "Inside the Main Street Studio," a sit-down, "Inside the Actors Studio" style interview, at 8:00 p.m. Oct. 30 at Kanawha Players located at 309 Beauregard St.
David Wohl, dean of arts and humanities at West Virginia State University, will be asking the questions, and a Kanawha Players performance of "Dial M for Murder" will follow Trammell’s appearance.
"It’s a good fit for Halloween," Trammell said. "If you’ve read the Charlaine Harris books (on which the show is based), you know she introduces a whole host of fantastical creatures. For sure, it’s a Halloween sort of show."
Tickets for Trammell's presentation and "Dial M of Murder" are $50.
"Sam is a star on the rise, so we are thrilled and honored he is taking the time to be a part of, and really the highlight of, HallowEast," said EEMS Program Director Ric Cavender. "A lot of fans are going to be excited, too."
HallowEast will conclude on Halloween, October 31 with a block party from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
East End Main Street (EEMS) and the Charleston Area Alliance are the organizers of HallowEast.
