oh koko, i guess you'll know this...i still just read the first book (reading another series now) but can i watch the first season without too many spoilers or how many books should i read first?

and thanks for the pics. anna is SO gorgeous

^The first season is similar to the book. The only difference is that some characters have bigger roles (like Lafayette), the tv show has a lot more story lines appart from Sookie´s. A few characters appeared on the first season that are later on introduced in the books, but nothing to worry about; and again, their stories are bigger than in the books.
Hurry up and watch the first season!!! :)

This is so cool: :)

^ I actually think that the books are really, really different from the series. Tara doesn't exist in book one -- in fact, she doesn't exist at all until the end of book 2 and even then she's just kind of a person Sookie knows. Most definitely not a best friend.
Amy Burley doesn't exist either, and Jason has hardly any storyline at all outside of
Sookie in the first book. In fact, since Sookie narrates the books, most characters don't really have any storyline outside of her. They're only mentioned if she's thinking about them or interacting with them, so it's clear to see why the TV show was done a little bit differently and the roles of characters were expanded.

There are also some major plot differences between the first book and the first season, but I don't want to give too much away for those who haven't read/watched yet. :flower: Basically, my verdict is that the general story is the same, but almost all of the details have been altered in some way in the transition from novel to TV show. Both are good!

i tried to read the first book but i found it awful, maybe because it was a bad translation.

so i'm halfway through the first season and it's growing on me A LOT! i didn't like the first episode too much and never cared enough to watch the rest, but now i'm pretty addicted, just some of those videos don't work!!!

anyways...i think (as some already pointed out) the basic storyline is the same. but i like the changes they did for the series. like bring in tara more. i think it's a bit weird how sookie doesn't have any close friends in the books or just arlene (who is older and has kids)...tara seems like a better choice because they're the same age and at the same "stage" in life
and i really like jason^_^ the actor is hilarious and i love the faces he makes:lol:
so now i can't wait til the next season

^you can always download them with torrent. Mininova.org is a reliable source :)

so i just finished watching the first season and i can't wait for the second season...
not too sure how i feel about jason becoming a member of "the fellowship to the sun" or tara being friends with that maenad girl. and i'm gonna miss "that dead person" (don't wanna spill it for the people who don't know yet who it is) but it was done well and it got better with every episode
although it was a bit cheesy and melodramatic when bill went out at sunlight to save sookie:rolleyes:

some oldish season 2 gossip

Q: Will True Blood return for a second season? And if so, got scoop? —Jeremy
A: Not only is there fresh Blood on the way, there's also fresh...um, blood. HBO's Twilight-gone-NC-17 series (which is slated to return next summer) is adding three characters: Sarah, the pleasure-seeking missus of the Fellowship of the Sun's big kahuna; Daphne, Merlotte's new waitress (and Sam's new lust interest); and Luke, a burly twentysomething who's as dedicated to religion as Jason is to sex.

Three's Company: Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Bill (Stephen Moyer) will wing it to Dallas, where they'll assist the local bloodsuckers in locating their MIA sheriff. But the couple's bigger problem may be their new third wheel, the irritating Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll). ''She's part of their life now,'' says Ball. ''Bill made her; he's responsible for her.''

Diff'rent Strokes: The question of who — or what — Maryann (Michelle Forbes) is will play out, and the answer doesn't lie in Charlaine Harris' books.
''She's a new kind of supernatural creature.''

Dead Like Me: ''I can't tell you if Lafayette [played by Nelsan Ellis:] will be back,'' says Ball, adding ominously, ''He did die in the books.'' He will reveal that Lois Smith's Gran returns in flashbacks.

Highway to Heaven: Sookie's sex-obsessed bro, Jason (Ryan Kwanten), will get mixed up with the nefarious Fellowship of the Sun. ''He realizes something's missing in his life,'' says Ball.
Aside from his pants?

Talk a little bit more about some of these supernatural elements we're going to see in the show.
Preston: I don't know if I'm at liberty to talk about it in detail, but, we are departing a bit from the books [the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris]. ... So the writers have really taken the groundwork that they set in the first season and kind of launched from that, and they're fleshing out characters that are minor in the books, and they're ... changing some plot things, and they've really made it their own. ...
You're going to see some characters doing things that you're surprised at, which will be fun. So I think the show is going to kind of keep you on your toes, and there's several different storylines that are spinning in the air. ...
I presume one of those would be Sookie [Anna Paquin] and Bill [Stephen Moyer].
Preston: Sookie and Bill, uh-huh, and we're going to follow Jason [Ryan Kwanten]. He's going to kind of veer off the path a little bit. And so we'll be watching that. And then Tara [Rutina Wesley] has gotten herself involved with some questionable characters. And then, of course, you're always going to touch back down into the Merlotte's crowd. ...
Tara's now with Maryann, played by Michelle Forbes.
Preston: Oh, yes. She's going to figure quite prominently this season. ... It's very mysterious, and, I mean, we're still a little confused ... as to what her powers actually are. But, you know, she is a very powerful force.
Will there be deaths?
Preston: Some new characters have been introduced, and, you know, it remains to be seen whether they will live or die. That's the thing with being on the show, you just never know: Are you going to make it? Are you going to make it through the season? Especially now that they've departed from the books. Because when I got the job, of course, I read all the books to see if Arlene lives, and she does in the books, but who knows?

so that women (maryann) is not the maenad but not really the fairy claudine as well?!
and why don't they bring in bubba????
and i don't really like that girl bill "created"...it was funny for the two seconds she was in the last season but the "bad teenager" can get boring and stupid after a while:huh:

^It´s gonna be interesting to watch all those changes from the books. I only hope that they don´t change the lust-love triangle between Sookie, Bill and Eric!! Eric is my favourite character, I wish they´d make him as great as in the books...

Ok, I just started watching True Blood and I'm already addicted:woot:

God, sometimes Bill's look gives me goosebumps, but in a good kind of way:innocent:
