Hello people,

In the vein of Kim Jones/Umbro and Comme de Garcons/Fred Perry, what are your favourite designer collaborations?

I quite like Y3, the collaboration between Yohji and Adidas. Though I'm not a fan of some of the overt logo-ing... nor am I a fan of how some of the styles have been appropriated by the rapper set... some of the items are really interesting and unique.
I especially like the pants and jackets, which are as comfortable as traditional adidas warm-ups while having a slightly more refined Yohji edge. Of course, this is what they say in their brief... but it is true.

And who can't like the "heroes" collection (from s/s 2004, I believe)?;)
Though I couldn't pull off wearing it myself, the huge graphic print of Yohji's "striking" (I guess that's one word for it) bust with a big medal around his neck was great. (see pic below, currently on sale at yoox)

I don't like that oki-ni stuff though...;) haha...

Comme was doing jkts with Vivien Westwood for CorsoComo in Tokyo. I think that the jkts had VW cut but Comme fabric.

Junya + Levis, and + Lewis Leather is anothe good colaboration.

I agree with you, softgrey. The Graffiti bags were definitely, in my opinion, the highlight of the collaborations, though the Murakami bags aren't bag. They were much better than some of the others (I'm thinking of the LV monogram wrapped in faux leopard print... but I forget who designed that one).

I admired the collaboration Louis Vuitton did with Julie Verhoeven. It was nice to see her extend the...unexpected quirk and quality of her illustrations to the bags themselves. It didn't lose any of its awkwardness, its emotion though I dont know if enough work was put into how to merge her ideas with the bags. A step in an interesting direction nonetheless.
