well this is almost always around as long as Versace exists but this season there's A LOT of it

it can either be like two different layers (McQueen) or it can be cut so that it's short in the front and long in the back (Bill Blass) or it can be a short dress with a long sheer fabric over (calvin Klein) the list of possible ways to do this is long

it can also be obvious (Versace) or discreet (bottega veneta)

thanks saan! great spotting! .
i really like the way calvin klein and hussein chalayan did it, but aside from that, it looks slightly uncomfortable..and too "glam" for me. :ninja:

Oh yeah, great trendspotting saan. . .!
And I agree with mullet, much of it is too 'glam-ish' for my liking as well, though in addition to the calvin Klein and hussein chalayan I do like the single Marc Jacobs one and the way Bottega Veneta did it.

I love so many of these looks! I really like how with this style, you can show off your legs a little but still wear a long and elegant dress at the same time!

some of those dresses remind me of what my barbies used to wear.

BEAUTIFUL! I like it. The hems "catch" the wind better with that kind of cut. Lovely, very very lovely

sometimes it's done well, other times...not so much

Agreed. I like the way it is done on the Elie Saab one and dislike those that look like miniskirts with trains.

i dont like this trend..but i have to admit some of these dresses are to die for.

2 lenght dresses at the oscars

not great looking though

^That dress looks incredibly awkward on Lisa Ling, and I don't think Cameron wears her dress well either.

I think this just further proves that this is not an easy trend to pull off.

I do love the Calvin Klein posted though.

isn't there a proper name for this style rather than 'two length'? Something like a tail or a train...? maybe not..Sort of does remind me of wedding dresses though. I like the dramaticism (is that a word or is it just meant to be drama?) of Alexander McQueen's black dress but then Bottega Veneta's dresses are great because it's so subtle and wearable.

It's not something new though. I've a knee length skirt from Kookai which is like this. Not really dramatic difference but slightly.

And I remember many skirts of two lengths before.
