I saw some of her walking for less known designers during NYC fashion week... unfortunatly, she didn't look very good. Actually, she looked like an angry drag queen. WTF happened?!

i think that's actually ana paula araujo im kind of ambivalent about ujjwala, but like some have already said, its nice to see an indian girl (or of other ethniticity than caucasian) strut on the catwalk

Ujjwala has an amazing unique look to her that just makes you stare at her in awe, I agree India is too focused on the Aishwarya look when they have so many unique and beautiful people, I mean they have a billion people!


Ujjwala is a breath of fresh air, now we need more Indian models!!!

i met her in new york city last september. just my opinion , of course, but she really isn't stunning- more interesting girls in my school actually. she is very skinny. probably 110 pounds at 5 10.

Does anyone know how and where Ujjwala was discovered? And how old is she?
One thing I'm glad of is that I havn't seen her with any Bollywood actresses. they do my head in! and she has no plans to go into Bollywood as she thinks she's too tall(?)

[font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]INDIA’S most fashionable export after the kurta, supermodel Ujjwala Raut, has had a visit from the stork. The New York-based 26-year-old married her boyfriend Maxwell last year.

‘‘It’s still a secret,’’ says the mom-to-be. Raut and husband are currently in Goa, building a dream home in the popular beach state. ‘‘I’m still working so I’ve told very few people.’’ But folks who have met her say the svelte girl is already showing. The baby is due in December and Raut still has another month of work left. ‘‘I’m going to France to finish off some shoots next week, then I’ll be back in Goa for the house. But I intend to spend two months in Mumbai after that,’’ says the Dahisar-born and raised girl. ‘‘I’ll be in New York for the delivery.’’

Raut entered the Elite Look of the Year contest in 1996 when just 17. Not only did she win, she also quickly rose to be a star on the Indian runway.

The Maharashtrian moved to Paris and Milan five years ago and did the walk for top-line international fashion houses like Chanel; she was also French couturier Emanuel Ungaro’s muse in 2002. And now Raut’s the face of YSL cosmetics in the US—her face is plastered on posters across New York. A baby just makes it a model picture. [/font]
