UK Elle July 2012 : David Beckham by Doug Inglish

It's pretty cool of Elle to put a guy on the cover... first one in a long time, right? It's a nice little nod to the Olympics too by having an athlete on the cover. I think it would have been better if they had put David in a suit instead of a t-shirt, it would be a better paring of celebrity and fashion. Also, the second picture is pretty great until you get to the eyebrows... idk why but they made me laugh. They look a bit funny.

the second picture is cool but I'm so not liking the covershot

I like it. The masthead is a tad too transparent, it almost doesn't look like an actual cover because of that. But the image is totally cool. I didn't realize he had so many tattoos but I love the way they're displayed here, they practically are the only styling element here because everything else is kept so simple and it works. I also dig the background color.

I agree that the second picture is awkward because of the weird eyebrow, he looks funny.

Such a fantastic cover shot, love that angle, i expected something more "pretty" or safe, but this is rather edgy for Elle. The other shot is cool as well, looking forward to see the sub cover, with someone that photogenic they really had to go out of their way to ruin it, i thought they still might, but this is very good.

There is one thing about this that i wish they would do with women as well though, he isn't airbrushed out of his mind, the abs are not pumped up, the wrinkles are there!

This is actually the FIRST time in their history that they put a man solo on the cover. There have been others, but always paired with women.

Wow, did not realize he has that many tattoos. It's a nice cover, but I'm not blown away.

I love it. Oh gosh Beckham.

DB is the MAN!!! but his tattoos are scary ... I didn't realise both his arms were totally covered ...

Pretty much what I was expecting to be honest.
He looks good (he always looks good!) but it's nothing to write home about.

...Which one is the sub cover, the shirtless one?

That's awesome. I thought they had put a few guys on the cover but with women, I couldn't remember if they had any solo male cover stars. David is probably the perfect guy to have a solo cover (him or Ryan Gosling... I'm sure a lot of people would buy that issue to!).

Shirtless is newsstand, close up is 'collector's edition' so I presume that's at WHSmith travel points and subscriber's will get it without the text..

^ ^ There is a third cover, and it looks like sub to me, so the other two cold be both for newsstands?

Anyhow i really like all 3 covers, surprised how well done they are for Elle.

YoninahAliza; Hahah oh i do second that! Gosling would be perfect as well in this styling, i hope this is a sell out, and we do get to see men on the cover (occasionally) again.

^ This one is the best, only the texts destroyed it.
