Oh wow, this is stunning. Their best cover since Justine left. Normally I'd hate the cropping but in Ashley's case it makes Truth be told I'm not her biggest fan, but it's interesting that each and every Harper's cover of hers looked great.

And please, enough on the stunt queen that is Marina Abramovic! Ulay died two months ago, it would have been fitting to pay tribute to his work instead.

I get the feeling she only does shoots that fit in with the image she's trying to sell - and currently that's the effortless, sensual, earth mother who always has a smile on her face. She's happy to appear in fashion magazines, but her focus is on a more generic form of stardom.

She's like the Cindy Crawford of plus-sized modelling, where high fashion and her don't get along that well - but that's OK, because there are bigger prizes to be had.

And she's probably got a lot of rather boring avenues to explore and exhaust (body positivity, having a baby, health and fitness for a different body) before she has to resort to doing anything dramatic with her image. Maybe we'll get some spicy shoots to remind us that "mothers can be sexy too!!!"

According to the article on WWD, a "stripped back and sophisticated shoot" was planned to be shot in a New York studio - until the pandemic broke and Ashley went to Nebraska.

You know what? Hats off the Justin Ervin and the British Harper's Bazaar team on this! I must've been hard for the magazine to just sit back and watch this all unfold via Zoom but the outcome is truly beautiful, and Ashley looks positively radiant as always. I love the colours and warmth in the newsstand cover shot... and can only hope the subscribers will echo this too.

Thanks for clearing this up. They should've just cut their losses and went with only the exterior country field shots. Would've been more cohesive.
This photographer already made a stronger impact with Ashley than her debut VP edit where she played a farm maid. I don't like the city shots, nor the barn ones because they don't match the mood. Keen to see how they'll sequence all these images.

It's pretty, though as MON said, very American. Why is she only wearing black and white? Was that purposeful or was the stylist just lost for direction? It's more celebrity than it does model, and even then it's very unimaginative. To say they're trying to show an intimate, homely side to Ashley, the whole thing feels distant and impersonal. Lovely cover, though.

Love this cover, Justin Ervin did an amazing job. I only like the shots in the field, but it's not that bad overall. It feels a little like Porter Edit, though

^ LOL, you went there . I'm impressed with the cover, especially by how it was shot so well despite the pandemic restrictions. The editorial is a disaster though.
