Thanks for scanning all the eds everyone! It seems a good issue especially the Road to Manderlay ed.

I've had three days to chew over my subscription copy... initially I was disappointed with the cover as I thought it was drab, but I've come to like the mix of brown tones, and in real life, the cover is glossy enough to add a certain sheen to her skin and her hair.

The articles are good - and there are so many of them - and the Shopping Guide is as visually exciting as it is every month, though the article about Gisele, there's nothing in it that any fan doesn't already know. I've read the articles that the writer has lifted all her quotes from, and remember them from the first time around.

The editorials in UK HB always suffer from not having big-name models in them, which automatically makes them seem inferior to UK Vogue's content, no matter how good the styling or the scenarios might be. The positive aspect is that it gives work to girls we might see more of in the future. I wasn't crazy about the edits this month, but I liked the atmosphere in them, which takes time to appreciate.

My favourite edit is the short one at the end of the issue, in the safari section, with close-up shots of animals in their rough and natural state - as opposed to being trussed up in Vuitton blankets, the way that young elephant was in the US Vogue Keira Knightley story, as if a wild animal was an accessory on a par with a pomeranian dog in a Vuitton carryall under the arm of a socialite. UK Bazaar has done well with their own safari edit, it's beautiful and respectful.

Overall, I enjoyed this issue far more than March's UK Vogue. Plenty of ads and articles.

I actually prefer HB's lesser-known models, because Vogue always seems to recycle the same models over and over and are generally girls you can see in any magazine. I like to see girls who I haven't seen before, or not much of at least.
