UK Vogue August 2014 : Victoria Beckham by Patrick Demarchelier

She looks even angrier from the side. I don't know why Vogue UK always looks like an amateur put the cover together.

Victoria looks miserable, the dog looks miserable, this cover is so empty.

"Inside the world of Victoria Beckham"...is the image supposed to be some sort of a metaphor for the tag line? She's basically a miserable dog? Is that what their getting at? This is awful.

BECKHAM TIMES TWO: Victoria Beckham is doing double duty as the face of British Vogue’s August cover, as the title’s first subject to feature on two different covers of the same issue. Patrick Demarchelier shot Beckham for Vogue on location at an 18th-century rectory in Hastings, southeast England, with one cover depicting the designer against the backdrop of a leafy garden, wearing a Chanel coat and blouse, while the other pictures her cradling a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Digby, wearing a Prada dress and neckerchief.

Demarchelier also shot Beckham for a fashion editorial inside the magazine. One image pictures her clad in an oversize Max Mara fisherman sweater, Hunter Wellington boots and a Stephen Jones hat, sitting amid a patch of bluebells, in a pose that British Vogue’s editor Alexandra Shulman said evokes a “latter-day Vita Sackville-West...playing the lady of the manor with gusto,” she said, referring to the late English writer and gardener. Shulman said the title chose to run both covers as “we liked them both so much.

“I was very keen to run the pictures of Victoria holding the dog but the other was a more obvious image that she looked very beautiful in,” she said, adding that she thought Beckham was a popular enough subject “to sustain the two different images.”

British Vogue’s deputy editor Emily Sheffield interviewed Beckham for the accompanying story over the course of a few days, attending the grueling Barry’s Bootcamp workout in London with the designer, shopping for groceries with Beckham and on location at the Hastings shoot and at the Beckham family’s London home. During the interview, the designer discusses turning 40 this year, saying: “I looked at it and said to myself, ‘I have four incredible children, an incredible husband, a business that’s doing very well. I’ve worked hard and achieved a lot. I don’t think I could have achieved much more.’”

Beckham also dishes on her workout routines, which alongside the boot camps include training with Tracy Anderson. She related that Gwyneth Paltrow introduced her to Anderson, over dinner in Los Angeles. “I said to Gwyneth that her body looked amazing and she introduced me to [Anderson]. I started when I was pregnant with Harper, it’s very challenging,” she noted. The issue hits newsstands Monday.

The second cover is more to my taste I think, it seems more high fashion. The dog is very cute, but a tad distracting, I think the side profile of Victoria could have worked well if she was just posing by herself. It would probably standout a bit more too. But regardless, I always like reading about Victoria, I'm continually impressed with the fashion niche she's carved out for herself.

The second cover is better, the first is such a strange option for a cover? The dog looks so miserable!

I really hate the styling on the second cover, but at least it's something new for Victoria on Vogue, it's different from what we've seen with her before.

YAY!!!! I luff her so much!

Im hoping this doesn't squash my dreams of her grabbing the September Issue of US Vogue though.......

The second cover is decent, but not that special. I almost split my tea after seeing the first cover. How could anyone think that it's a good idea?

The second cover is better, but overall it is not a great succes. Everything is too polished for a countryside look.

British Vogue was THE Vogue for me, but they are so insipid lately. This looks like British Marie Claire.

Actually I really like the second cover, looks like a good attempt for Victoria to put a smile on her face. The coat is great, but why already with coats on august covers? I wish there are more summer shots

The second cover is much better, the first one with the dog was not necessary, when has there ever been a multi celeb cover before? I cant think of it to save my life!

But i love her spread preview, finally they style her a bit differently, and its always nice to see Victoria back on the cover, also nice to see their cover subject out in the air, and not another studio shot.

I could be wrong but i think this issue marks 30 years of Patrick Demarchelier working for UK Vogue, just amazing.

why does she always look so p*ssed off... she looks cold but not in an attractive way...

Fall preview is on August covers every year, i find it far to heavy as well, but its how Fashion moves these days, stupid.

She's wearing Prada in the first one
