UK Vogue July 2007 : Yasmin Le Bon, Cecilia Chancellor, etc...

the cover is complete cr*p.

And does it bother anyone that there are no good eds this issue? I mean no offence but the only thing worth buying this issue for are the Dior ads and the Cavalli ads - the rest is just complete cr*p.

Who cares about those models nowadays? (except Lily Cole) - and who the hell are Yasmin le bon and that helvin person?!

dissappointing!

Kind of harsh, I think.

They were models in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Some of the magazine's readers might be able to relate to these models more than the newer, young girls, because we (and I include myself in this group) are closer to their age.

Lily Cole looks great! :)

I'm not so crazy about the Stam Dior ads--the colors are a bit tacky and the hair is terrible...

I think it's shocking that even after a cover with a group shot of British models, lily D. still hasn't landed the cover of her native Vogue. Even Agyness was given the cover treatment by Alexandra already!

I personally wouldn't want to see any of those models on a vogue cover.
It's old, it's simple, it's been done into the ground so many times it's almost dare I say? COMMERCIAL.

UK Vogue bumps itself down so often that it isn't even worth a damn anymore if a model gets that cover. It seriously shames what Vogue used to mean to the point that the UK should have the rights to publish their own REVOKED

it seems dull and uninspired to me, not to mention dated-looking...

Awful cover...I understand what they're doing with the Ageless thing but I've had enough of that:doh:
All that interests me so far is Jane & Lou & the article by Joan Juliet Buck^_^

Thanks for all the info:flower:

I guess after two amazing issues, they couldn't possibly out do themselves - so they made this issue crap, so that next months will be amazing in comparison! lol

the cover is more fitting to some womens magazine like self rather than vogue. terrible. disappointing because their recent covers have been great.

This is one seriously boring cover. It's looks like it's from the past, like the 90's? Just not impressive. Wish Lily had her own cover.

what it's about?!

The Joan Juliet Buck article is about fashion from the 1960's to 2007. However it's about her fashion and what/who inspired her. It's the most enjoyable article of the whole issue and has some fabulous pictures with it! :flower:

Sorry to say, but first impressions are true with this issue; the whole thing reads like a bland clothes catalogue. The ideas are great, but missing is any edge to the execution of those ideas, which would lift this above what other mags do - that special "Vogue" something. But it's not there. There's simply nothing that makes you fall madly in love with this issue.

And what makes it worse is that those new season ads at the front of the issue snatch your attention away right from the edits.

For me, the one stunning shot in the issue comes in the beauty section, a 1970 shot of Charlotte Rampling.

The written articles are... OK, but it's mostly platitudes about ageing. But I'll not pretend I buy Vogue to read the text. Even the Joan Juliet Buck article - about the clothes she's worn as her career progressed - was a disappointment, it lacked her usual spark.

I've got the issue, it's awful.
The 'ageless style' editorial looks like a Marks & Spencer campaign, they interview Tamara Mellon - again, and it's a very thin issue.
And the Pixie Geldof interview is as pretentious as you like.

^^ :( Ohhh, what a dissapointement. I was happy when they had MODELS on! I love Lily.

^I'll start scanning some of the editorials and interviews now anyway though:flower:

Much as I don't like Lily and her 'full moon face' I also really wish there'd been more of her in the issue, because she looked well.

Not too shure about the cover, it's a bit bland and I don't like the red font. I do like the fact that they used a mix of old and new models. Too bad Lily D is not on it.

The contents sound really boring unfortunately.

Cover, Contents Page and 'Grey Matter' feature.
