UK Vogue September 2007 : Sasha Pivovarova by Craig McDean

I dont understand why there is so much excitement for September. Its the same as any other issue just with 100's more ads [which any one who reads more than one fashion mag will have seen millions of times before.] Its so thin on actual content

I like Gemma's ed, but I don't like when they do shoots in India and use local people in the ed. That sounds kinda mean, but I only mean that it seems like an insult to them when they have a model in outfits worth thousands of dollars and then put them next to people who only make a dollar a day. Its seems wrong to me.

I didn't see this issue until yesterday - and it wasn't worth the wait.

Leaving aside the models, I find a lot of the editorials themselves were derivative rubbish, and it's proof of Sasha's star power that she can make you overlook that.

And as for Gemma's edit, I know it was described in the editor's letter as a homage to the work of Vogue India, but its yet another let-sit-with-the-natives series, and if UK Vogue are going to run this in every issue, I'd be better off subscribing to National Geographic, because at least they don't patronise their subjects and you actually get to learn something about the people.

I enjoyed the articles, I liked the redesign, and the models did the best they could. But in terms of fashion editorials, I'd find more inspiration in the September 1994 issue than in this one. This is the most important issue of the year and its... nice. No more and no less, and for me, that's not enough. Far from enough. In the context of a September issue, "nice" is not a compliment. I wanted it to rock my world.

Gemma's editorial is adorable! Sasha's is a bit plain, which annoys me a bit since she has the cover and she deserves something better. I do like the worn, vintage element in Stella Tennant's ad as much as I dislike her.

I totally disagree, Sasha is not plain at all rather outstanding and unusual IMO.

^ yes, but the editorial is rather plain. Sasha is capable of better. It seems like a terrible waste of talent to just shove her in some white background studio shoot, especially when she got the cover and most of us were expecting something more for her.

Quite a boring editorial for Sasha, but hey that's British Vogue for you. I guess I'm used to seeing her in amazing Vogue Italia editorials..

exactly my feeling. and not even the clothes themselves would make me love the ad. i'm soo tired seeing something like that in british vogue!

but other than that: Sasha's ed is looovely, and I'm happy to see Stella again. plus it's september, so it's a must-buy anyways....:D

:woot: You should write to Alexandra Shulman about this, you can personally write letters to her and she writes back. I'd love to know what she says. :o

I will have this Vogue for two days! I can't wait! :buzz:

i might actually do that, just to see if she really writes back....^_^

Aye, when she wrote back to me, she was almost telling me off for daring to say I didn't really like what she'd done for a certain cover.

Miss V...

Scanned by me

MarryMeTomFord, about 430 pages. More than 200 of them are ads, but I can't tell you the exact number )))))
