Uniqlo

hello!!!

static electricity can happen with natural fibres as well as synthetic...
it has to do with how dry the air is ...
not the fibre content..

of course the uniqlo cashmere sweaters do NOT have any synthetic fibres...
...

static happens with silk and wool and angora etc...

if you dampen your hands and run them across the fabric, it will eliminate the static immediately...

Are you serious??? :shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

I guess you're the expert here but I was always told that "electricity" is a basic sign of a ****ty fabric.
Maybe you're right. But it never happened to any of my other sweaters. just this one...

soft's right...

Materials can be ranked in order of their ability to hold or give up electrons, and under ideal conditions, if two materials are rubbed together, the one higher on the list should give up electrons and become positively charged.

TRIBOELECTRIC SERIES
your hand
glass
your hair
nylon
wool
fur
silk
paper
cotton
hard rubber
polyester
polyvinylchloride plastic

i.e.
When you pull your hat off, it rubs against your hair. Electrons move from your hair to the hat. Now each of the hairs has the same positive charge. Things with the same charge repel each other. So the hairs try to move away from each other. The farthest they can get is to stand up and away from all the other hairs. - sciencemadesimple.com

i had a static issue while wearing a 100% cashmere sweater the other day (not from uniqlo, somewhere else)...
it's definitely possible..
and i don't doubt that my shirt is cashmere..
this can definitely happen with any fabric..

as soft and strawb have already described ^_^...

hmmm... i do agree with the static facts.. but is 100%cashmere equal to any other 100%cashmere?
there are different ways of knits which can affect the way it feels.
i know that my "thicker" knits do have some fibres that feel quite sting-y and stand out compared to the rest of the cardi. very minimal but quite annoying when my face touches my shoulder..
overall though i love my cashmeres. (as im allergic to thick wool)

So is there any way in which someone can tell whether cashmere is fake or not?

Well for starters, I really doubt that a huge company like Uniqlo (who has recently) opened its latest store in Paris will have fake cashmere.

Amen to that. :flower:

not uniqlo, but it has happened before that the care label stating a fabric content wasnt always saying the truth....

Uniqlo I'm sure use 'real' cashmere, but the issue for me is that their cashmere is not the best quality - obviously for the prices they charge. It's almost rough and um, stiff. There are different qualities and weights in cashmere, I'm sure someone else who knows more about this than me can enlighten us about it!

When the store on Oxford Street first opened, their cashmere sweaters feelt soooo soft, but now a few months later I went bagain to purchase some, and they just don't have the softness to them some of the navy sweaters were actually really harsh and just felt like normal cotton.

I wonder if they have given in on quality in the other batches..

I feel really stupid now for saying all these things about elictricity but it's just what everyone's been saying to me since for ever.
I agree that maybe it is cashmere but it's certainly inferior quality. I bought a pair of cashmere gloves from them first, which were really soft and nice for 15 pounds but than this sh.t happened if I don't even know anymore. Maybe the good quality cashmere was to lure costumers in??? I don't know.:(

LOL

dude

i got electrocuted too on soo many fabrics and textures

in moscow, i even got electrocuted because of fendi chinchilla!!!!!!!!!

even rubbing your leg against a man's hairy leg can cause the same thing.

TRUST ME ON THIS ONE OMG ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU'RE CANOODLING UNDER THE SHEETS DURING WINTER TIME!!!!

lol

You can test if it is synthetic or not by pulling some fuzz or strings off of it, and lighting them on fire. (Carefully of course) Cashmere and wool will burn to ash, synthetic will melt and leave a hard plasticy residue.

i went there to buy skinny jeans on my last trip to NYC,
it was the last night, and i was in a hurry, so i didn't get to look at everything they had, but i liked, i liked.

better than H & M, IMOP.
can't wait to go back and see if they carry a short black trench, i think i saw one on my way out, but i was in a hurry.

Funny, the exact same thing happened to me on my most recent NYC trip.

Anyways, I miss this store. How I wish I could wonder about it in again. I bought a massive number of graphic tees as gifts, some cashmere items that were on sale, various knit tops for myself, a hoodie, and some other stuff.
