It's three issues into US Elle's redesign, and for me, it hasn't been for the better. It's become superficially more exciting-looking but contents-wise, not really that satisfying. The only section that is an improvement for me is the information-rich 'Elle Shops' but that's only a small part - a few pages - of the overall issue, and not worth buying for that alone.

I hold out hope that I'll come to like it, but at the moment, I don't feel that US Elle is being a better version of itself. It's turned into cheap candy in a new wrapper.

i totally agree...
some of the eds have been really great (izabel's one for dior last month, the women in hollywood portfolio this month, georgina grenville's ed from september), but most have been lackluster...
the elle shops section is like vogue index to me...

and the design/typography is too similar to the work zee and paul ritter did at vitals and jane...
i was really hoping elle would develop its own personality and voice, and so far that hasn't happened...
i continue to hold out hope too...

Also, I'm really glad they did the redesign. I stopped buying Elle a couple years back because every photoshoot was done by Giles Bensimon and had the same over accesorized, semi-80's look.
