For the summer issue of GQ Style, we did what Americans have been doing for 100-plus years: We road tripped through our country’s great national parks. Over the course of eight days, we took cover star Brad Pitt and photographer Ryan McGinley to White Sands National Monument, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, and Everglades National Park for a tumble across some of America’s most sublime terrain. The result is a trio of distinct covers and a gripping 40-page portfolio that captures the parks’ awesome beauty and paints an intimate and emotional portrait of the actor. Then writer Michael Paterniti visited Pitt at his home in LA, where the duo had a raw and reflective conversation. In the first interview Pitt has given since his split with Angelina Jolie, he digs deep on love, loss, fatherhood, and how to move forward after things fall apart.

He looks like he's lost.

Unless that's what they're going for (considering the last sentence of the description)

The first cover is easily the best I've seen from Brad! He indeed looks lost and perhaps that was done deliberately, and the media will lap this up. Odd that he would give the first interview to GQ Style and not Vanity Fair. Graydon loves him, or rather, he loved Brange. Guess the lines has been drawn.

I cant see myself buying this magazine on a regular basis. It's so hollow, and way too little fashion. Also, their brand of fashion don't appeal to me, yet I can deal with British GQ.

Although quite a different looking Brad, each cover is stunningly captured.

Love every single cover.

Always enjoy McGinley's photography. I really love all covers here. It's very different and some may not like it but it feels so fresh for GQ and Brad.

Some of these could have been Porter covers, if they used guys. But apart from being cynical of seeing "Sad Brad lounging in a field", my problem is with the fact that he looks very unwell to me, lately. He just looks out of it, gaunt, and it's not something i am into when it comes to Pitt!

I'm so glad you agree! I was literally just about to type that he looks seriously ill in these shots to me?!

OMG. What is this? Brad looks horrific. Looks ill, tbh. Especially that middle cover - is that a mug shot? Age has not been kind to him, but this is probably the worst he's ever looked.

If fiftysomething women aren't allowed to look busted on the cover of magazines, then neither is Brad Pitt.

Wow compare these covers to that T Magazine cover he did last year.

I might be in the minority here, but I love these precisely because he looks so vulnerable. He does look a bit gaunt and haggard, but I think he looked rather bloated before, so I think he looks way better now, and actually sexier and more attractive to me than he has in a long, long time. Apparently he says in the interview that he quit drinking, so maybe this is why.

I agree with everything you've said. He looks less bloated and more natural to me. He stopped drinking, and he probably eased up on the steroids or whatever he was taking to give him that extra bulk as well. If you look at photos of him from when he was much younger, he's naturally very lean, so to me, this looks more like a return to form than anything else.

No you're not, Sore, I'm with you on this. I like this haggard Brad. There's a mature sense of intensity which I've not spotted before. I find that much more appealing than young Brad.

Amen sister.

I mean, glad to not see him overly botoxed like he was in Allied, but he looks like he could use a good meal and 2 week nap here.

Yes ... anxious was my thought ... in need of a therapist referral?

Well. It's so rare that a cover shot tells the truth, so if that's what's happening here, I guess I'm for it.
