US Harper's Bazaar August 2015 : Natalie Portman by Norman Jean Roy

This is above their standards. She looks beautiful, but what on earth is up with that shadow? Is this a studio shot edited to look like an outdoor shot? The shadow is beyond laughable.

Anyway, the subscribers cover is fabulous! Although it doesn't look realistic, it's just so elegant.

Her shoulder is too airbrushed :/ I think the lipstick color doesn't suit at all, a very light pink, even a fuschia would have been better !

The subscriber's cover is simply sublime! I'll have to head to EBay to get this (their subscribers are forever selling their copies, dunno why). The newsstand cover obviously have a lot of flaws, but it's still quite an update for them. The cover looks more like one of the foreign editions though, perhaps that's a great step forward.

Guess this explains the weird shadow on the cover they photoshopped the picture to look like she was sitting up

The fake shadow on the newsstand is awful. Shame, could have been beautiful. The subscriber's shot is a great idea but to be picky, she should have been dropped further down into the composition I feel.

It's odd, I only spot that now. The waste of that space does seem a bit weird. Just as weird as Fall Fashion sprawled against what is clearly a summer image.

I quite like the cover editorial. Natalie fits this old-charm aesthetic like a glove.

This is all I expect from Bazaar. Easy, simple, glamour. Give me lovely looking girls and settings and I'll forgive them for no longer producing iconic work.

I think the second cover is beautiful:heart: The first one is not great. I honestly didn't notice it was Natalie until I saw the text. The shadow behind her is too strong, esp. considering she has zero shadow under her arm (which looks photoshopped btw).

No wonder the newsstand shot is so weird-looking, why is it so hard to shoot a variety of headshots at the time, in case you want to use them as a cover, instead of counteracting the visual effects of gravity to create your cover?

I'll look past it if there's something good inside this issue, but there'll probably be an editorial shot by Terry Richardson with someone wearing red lipstick on the streets of LA.

The subscribers' cover is the most corny thing I've ever seen.

No wonder the cover looks so fake! It's the 4th shot with a recolored background! Don't they have a separate shoot for the cover and a separate shoot for the editorial? No wonder the composition of her body looks weird on the cover... because she's on the ground. What even, Glenda?

I would have preferred to see this as the cover tbh..

The smile is just inviting, and it's more relaxed and less forced than the actual cover. How could they pass off this image and just decide to use that ugly one.. Had they used this, it would've been that perfect classic Bazaar

and did anyone else notice how the rope mysteriously vanishes into thin air on the first image? I hope that rough edit doesn't make it to print

The covers are a quite boring, but the editorial is a million times.
