I didn't realize that this was the 150th Anniversary issue!

Let that sink in.

Everything I'm seeing here, I've already seen. It already feels like there's a "template". The Akrans, Kim, and Demarchelier editorials feel like I've seen them last month? The portrait in Ben Hassett's feature feels like a Vogue Paris I've seen just recently.

And don't get me started on how original Madonna's ed is. She can basically put all her recent editorials side by side and one would think that all were photographed at the same time. Lovely.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I like some of what I see on this page. Ben Hassett looks like an updated version of Posnick x Klein. This man simply takes beauty features to another level.
And while one can quickly dismiss it as redundant, indeed the styling is, everything else works for me. Mayowa looks both sensual and serious in these shots, I particularly like the ones with the shadow/shade. No malice intended, but her features with black girls look far more interesting to me and it may have something to do with colour contrast.
Also, Erik Madigan Heck??? Nothing but love for him here. He's done justice to past Valentino collections, and this one is no exception.

I can spot some difference since Laura Brown';s departure, and I'm loving it! Now only if they can work on their commercial newsstand covers!

I would certainly say the content seems to be a little better than the usual rubbish I've been seeing in US Bazaar for months now. Maybe that's not saying much by their standards, but it gives me some hope.

I think you mean there's nothing embarrassing this month. No fake dinosaurs in an edit called "Dyno-mite!" like last month.

With that being said there's not one single picture that's aspirational or inspiring in any way. Everything at best is simply passable and not one thing is memorable. There's no passion here. Where's the picture that stuns or wows?! This is mediocre in every sense of the word.
