It is possible to appreciate something without approving of its creator. I can think of great artists that have flaws. The Nobel prize winning writer Hamsun springs to mind. He was a nazi symphatizer during WWII, but that doesn't make his literary works any less excellent.
You can also appreciate something without any regard to the original motivation of the creator. Golding didn't mean for Lord of the Flies to become a classic and a study of human nature, but it did, because we can appreciate his work based on our own interpretation of his work. Even if you dislike Terry, you can still have appreciate his work if it actually is good for once.
Sorry to single you out, but a lot of people seem to share your idea...
And I know a lot of people wouldn't call photography art, but thats not the point here
