US InStyle September 2017 : Selena Gomez by Phil Poynter

Wow, the subscriber cover should've been fro newsstand! It's perfection, yet again too summery, but it looks great for InStyle. Marc Jacobs cover looks like a bad ad for some tacky youtube series. Not buying into this and I don't get his hanger-ons. I get that he's now in some hip-hop phase, but it's like he's piling them on like they're accessories. And they're blinded by it all because someone gave them a cover. No comment on Rocky Balboa.
I'm even more sold on Dilone's cover. That smile is once again her saving grace, and the cover is the only one suited for September!

Should have just given the newsstands covers to Dilone or Carolyn!

Selena bored me to death! What does she have to complain about now? She's so whiny. Also, the airbrushing is too much on the cover. NEXT!

His Hanger-ons are Hip Hop legends and royalty.
That cover would have been 10 times better without Marc and his dirty sneakers.

I will never understand the appeal of Selena Gomez. She's cute, but what else??
The Stephen Colbert cover is supposed to be funny, but it just looks weird.
The Carolyn Murphy cover works the best for me. Just because she always loks like a movie star.

Good for someone with all the bland, generic appeal and "talent" of a circuit pageant winner still be as much of a draw as she is, I suppose.

Never did expect the remotest of “style” from InStyle… They’re as “stylish” as Toronto’s Fashion magazine is “fashionable”. The other covers are all so random and so transparent in an attempt to appeal to all/any demographic. I suppose that’s the nature of these generic, consumer rags these days. Soon they’ll just be dominated by Youtubers.

If I were forced to choose one— I’d go with the Salt-N-Pepa with LL cover. LL is still hot… Too bad Spinderalla isn’t included here; she’s just as much a part of the Salt-N-Pepa image to me as the duo.

I bloody love the concept of Marc's cover with the hip-hop icons, given the theme of his F/W collection, however the outcome looks predictably cheap. Maybe there will be some better photos inside...considering how mind-blowing Hype Williams' MVs used to be back in the day, it's weird to see his photography look like a Sgura assistant on their first day.

Carloyn's cover is unconventional but powerful, didn't expect that.

I would understand having multiple covers if there were shots that were utterly cover worthy and one couldn't decide on a single one, but none of the subscriber shots work as covers, they're not even good editorial images. If these are their strongest shots I don't even care to see what's inside.

While i love Dilone and Carolyn's covers, i have a soft spot for the Marc one. The collection was one of my favorite of the entire fashion week, he seems to have a huge support from the editors this year and i find it quite touching.

I will buy this collection for sure. And Salt N Pepa + LL COOL J after that Missy Elliott cover of ELLE? I'm in heaven.
Those are legends and legends don't need reasons to be on the cover of magazines. I love that!

They've photoshopped Selena's features beyond recognition. I love Marc and Dilone's covers, though.

It could be the Queen of England, but quite frankly, that cover is bad.

Love Carolyn and Dilone's covers. Other subscriber covers are embarrassing and Selena is overplayed and boring.

I absolutely ADORE Carolyn's cover. It's a stunning picture!

Also love Dilone's - her smile is just so damn charming.

The rest I'll take a pass on.

Dilone's editorial, while cute, is a miss for me. I cheap rip-off off two photographers which I absolutely loathe - Weber and Teller.
I'm looking forward to Mariacarla's feature!

Love how Laura is slowly introducing more HF content into what was essentially a celebrity fashion magazine.

Maria Carla's edit actually looked better in the snaps than they do in UHQ.
