US Vogue August 2009 : Christy Turlington by Steven Klein

The shot of her in the Bottega Veneta gown is my favorite. She looks as flawlessly elegant as the dress itself!

Cant wait to see the full Raquel ed.

And guys, the Karlie eds are not like 2 10 pagers..their not FULL eds.

I like the first SHOT of Christy's ed to be the cover! IMO! I love it that Caroline is not on any eds on this issue but I hate it that Karlie got 2 eds!

They have Raquel's, Karlie's and Anna's editorial here: http://rockthetrend.com/

Some of the scans don't open so I can't see them in a larger size :( Raquel's editorial is my favorite studio editorial she's ever done! :crush:

Nevermind. She's in US Vogue for 2 (?) months. I like her but with measure.

On the other side, i'm not able to like Raquel's alienwhite bun on the Bottega Veneta shot. I need some time...

Here is Vanessa and Dree's shot, from models.com:

Love the tacky 80s styling.

I was so ready to hate every inch of the David Sims ed. I'm getting sick and tired of his overly airbrushed, lifeless and boring eds, but Raquel just does it again. She looks stunning throughout and that shot of her in the white BV dress is to die for.

Thanks for the link - Raquel looks lovely, and I've learned to hold off on my Karlie hate until I see her images, because most of the time, they turn out OK - although someone has made her wear the worst dress I've recently seen, in that shot.

With all the work that Karlie is doing at the moment, it makes me wonder... are we seeing the start of someone who's going to around for ages doing decent work, or are we going to look back at 2009 as the year of 'Karlie overkill' when she was everywhere and then nowhere?

^I hope the first thing.

By the way, is it just me or do Vanessa and Dree resemble two great Brazilian models in their shot?

Vanessa reminds a bit of Leaticia Birkheuer and Dree could pass for Michelle Alves in this shot.

Why are the texts on the cover so large?

Are we blind or something? Or maybe the Vogue staff is.

The poses and styling of Raquel's ed are ok, but her face is so airbrushed that I cannot like it
The second shot is the best, imo.

Great to see Proenza Schouler in two editorials! Their last collection was stunning.

Thats what I dislike about Sims for US Vogue. The skin of the models is airbrushed to the extent that it looks like porcelain.

This issue seems dull as dishwater, but oh my...Karlie by Klein is a phenomenal one page shot, US Vogue always excels at these as short as they are.

I haven't seen such a nice selection of clothes in US Vogue in a long time (with the exception of Marc Jacobs because I hated the collection), it's nice to see Proenza, Phi  and Comme des Garçons in Raquel's ed.

...although I can't help but think in the trailer of the September issue when Grace C. shows Anna the Pink CdG jacket with hands and she respondes with a sharp "No"

I LOVE the first shot of Karlie. It reminds me of an Irving Penn photograph of Lisa Fonssagrives. I am really starting to like and appreciate Karlie as a model. When she first debuted, I thought she would be just another over-hyped pretty young thing that would quickly fade. However, she has put out some pretty decent work this year and she shows no signs of stopping. She is Queen of the Catwalk and arguably the new Queen of Vogue. Quite big accomplishments for being so young. No matter what her future holds, 2009 will be known as the year she was on top- for the first half at least !

I really like the shot of Dree and Victoria. The background is great and I love the decadent styling. They look like two 1940's grand socialties. Very Millicent Rogers-ish, with a strong Eighties twist.
