US Vogue December 2023 : Nicki Minaj by Norman Jean Roy

How much did Jeff pay to get this? Ugh Miss Wintour is still the same, after all the failed attempts to appeal the Gen Z.

I think we can say this is a failed attempt to appeal not only to Gen Z but also: The Greatest Generation, The Silent Generation, Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, Generation Z, etc. It's really cross generational at this point.

Is the woman of Jeff Bezos someone important to the culture or fashion?
It is a bit unfortunately…
We aren’t supposed to forget that it’s part of the tradition of Vogue to be introduced in a social manner.
This is a way to say that there’s someone new in town…But also to shift the change of image of Mr Bezos.

It wouldn’t be relevant if Bezos wasn’t one of the richest man in the globe. Those photos would have had a total different meaning in People magazine.

Anna don’t skip a beat. Amazon was a sponsor of the recent CFDA. I’m sure they will somehow be involved in the next Met Gala…

As for the photos…NO COMMENT!

The approval of Anna, the feature in Vogue will have a weight in the high society…Removed from the celebrity world.
It’s like going to the Bal des Débutantes as an adult.

If Andre Leon Talley was still alive and in better terms with Anna, he would have already been « Future Mrs Bezos » chaperon, introduced her to the designers in Paris, ladies of the high society and the whole thing.

I loathe Anna, but come on... Vogue is not going to get any better without her lol. It's too far gone.
I agree 100%. With Conde Nast's globalization, US Vogue will never be what it used to be no matter who edits it.

I mean, Anna did put Kim on the cover when she had no place in fashion, and gave Melania a solo cover when she had just graduated from being paraded around as a former escort. There’s probably a louder message in agreeing to the production of a quintessentially Vogue story and still not granting Jeff and Lauren a cover and going with Nicki instead. I’m not sure Anna’s Vogue has a way of introducing you to high society because I really don’t think Vogue is that deeply in it anymore (they mostly feature socialites who venture into the limelight and do not talk about people who do not want to be talked about) but Vogue can still legitimize you, and take you from the fringes of the entertainment world and silence everyone.

I have to say… Lauren’s pictures have always found me but I’ve never googled her and just did, I looked up some old pictures to see what she looked like before all the procedures and.. she’s one of those people who have ‘naturally plastic’ faces. She’s looked cosmetically modified since always..

The Maya Hawke shoot looks decent.

Hopefully Anna lives to 110 and still heading Vogue just to spite all those that wish her gone, because— Edward and his lapdogs are such saviours to Vogue by turning it into the most generic of midrange department store flyers LMFAO

Yeah, "high society" as a concept has disintegrated over the past 20 years. I remember when Vogue used to cover these huge society weddings, and they were interesting because you had a glimpse into the mostly private worlds of the families who (for better or worse) ruled in their respective countries...at least socially. Now, all anyone cares about is money. But that's boring, because the difference is that a lot of the society ladies had great style. Not really the case anymore, as we see with Ms. Sanchez. To quote Countess LuAnn, "money can't buy you class."

Nicki’s ed (10 pages)

People in the sun (12 pages) by Annie Leibovitz styled by Grace Coddington & Alex Harrington starring Maya Hawke & others (various artists) - ed inspired by the work of Edward Hopper. Reminds me of “fantasy editorial” by Leibovitz/Coddington that US Vogue used to do every December issue.

Lauren Sanchez feature (10 pages)

Alessandro Michele’s apartment shot by Francois Hallard (10 pages)

Again, the lack of great models!

The print version has a lot of cover blurbs. It looks better except that the extra text on her shoulder looks a little bit messy.

Lol Phoebe Derlee and Hadi Falapishi.. they're really not the power couple Vogue thinks they are. And Rashid as an afterthought in a corner.. and ALL of them as the backdrop for Maya Hawke, Vogue is just.. :rofllaughing:... reminds me of their cultural 'forecasts' from their 1930s issues 'yeah Picasso is hot, but you know who's really going to be remembered for centuries? Bob Johns'.
