The Usher cover without a doubt outperformed the one on newsstands with Sienna, which in the greater scheme of things is what Vogue aimed for. That's why this new digital cover concept exists. To drive engagement online (and let some egocentric celebrity feel like they're part of the Vogue club despite not actually appearing in a physical magazine). Let out a schadenfreude laugh when I saw some saddo stans posting that they'll rush out to buy the cover. People who don't understand fashion magazines but make the loudest noise are so funny.
It's a great image, would never have thought it was shot by Campbell Addy because it looks so much like Klein's work. But Usher is a random choice, don't know/care for his work. The silver lining is that Vogue's followers got a break from their incessant musings about Taylor Swift's paparazzi shots, celebrity gossip and socialite weddings.
