I wish she left her name at Chanel Robinson so she wouldn't be so up herself about her "supermodel"ness.

!!!!!

thats it really isn't it? She has zilch personality that distinguishes herself- in every interview she goes on about her love for Chanel and he admiration of Iman.

i believe she's one of the few models that i honestly disdain:ninja:

Wow, some of you need to lighten up! I bet it wasn't even her who came up with that name, wouldn't her agency/management have to approve of it??

Also, it's not like it was completely made up, it's her first and middle name! I completely agree that a unique name can give you that memorable factor, and it's worked for Chanel!

Anyway, thanks for the clip! I was hoping they would be talking :(.

You need to MAKE them supermodels. For the next 10 months, give each of the 10 girls on the cover right now their own cover.

I certainly wouldn't mind that!

^ Neither would I. A Stam cover? A Hilary Cover? A Coco Cover? :buzz:

Throw in a Heather cover and I'll get a subscription for myself and everyone else I know. :woot:

If all those girls got their own cover. I think I would cry because I would be witnessing a revolution

Oh boy, YouTube's screeners are being quick and strict today :o They're getting very tough on ridding the site of copyrighted material these days...

Perhaps it was Stam's see through shirt

 "Coco Chanel--you know her?":lol: :judge:

Coco ruined the perfect cover for me.

Ahhh, don't I wish!

I just finished reading the issue which actually was my first Vogue issue ever. Beside the front cover, editorial with Natalie.V(her lips and eyes are do die for) I'm left disappointed.

As for the text about the models I wish there was more to read about them. Stam looked stunning in her solo shot and Raquel looks fantastic in her's too. The other doe pictures were so so. The beauty of the models didn't come out properly and the same applies to the front cover, where Agyness and Chanel are the only ones who manage to look like they are "the next top models". To bad Poly and Heather Marks were in the issue.

If your name is Anna, Jessica, Alexandra, etc. you have a harder time being remembered than if your name is more unusual.

For example, Suvi, Chanel Iman, Freja Beha, Gemma Ward, Raquel Zimmermann, Coco Rocha, Snejana, Doutzen, Hilary Rhoda, etc., etc. They are all names which are relatively uncommon and they really become the girls' "brand-name".

... :flower:

I don't think so, American people is too lazy for those names, they want the easy thing, Suzys, Heidis, Cindys are better names in America. Heidi Klum works better than Sasha Pivovovarova or Freja Beha.

Diane Heidenkrueger had to change her name to be simply Diane Kruger, something similar with Jaime King.

and I don't see the uncommoness of the "Hilary" name when daily we have news of Hillary Clinton. :innocent:

Natalia looks so stunning! The Hit Girls ed is nice and classic, but not exciting at all, like other Meisel's work for Vogue US.

The next step Anna needs to make to turn these girls into household names and turn them into the supermodels they all should be is to give them a COVER!!!!!!!! FORGET those boring celebrities, Anna, you want these girls to be the new supermodels of America?...You need to MAKE them supermodels. For the next 10 months, give each of the 10 girls on the cover right now their own cover. If she expects them to all become the next Linda, Christy, Naomi, Kate, etc, she neets to really invest and support these girls on a national level, not just in the business, she can't expect them to become a household name by putting them all together on a cover just once.

If you did that Ms. Wintour, I would take back all of the mean comments I say about you!:D

there will not be Supermodels again, the same Meisel explained the phenomenun of the late 80's, early 90's Supermodels in the HIT GIRLS article.

Other point is that fashion designers are not going to support possible Supermodels again, Calvin, Donna and the most of the designers boycotted the supers 'cause they were getting more attention than the clothes so a model won't be taking the control anymore. Calvin Klein said "this strange creature (Kate Moss) will be my muse" it was when the glamazon died.

Besides a Supermodel is more than US Vogue, a Supermodel has to appeal men and women, 15 years ago men in prison had posters of Stephanie Seymour hanging on the wall, I can't imagine them now adoring a Sasha Pipovarova picture :lol:

Anna Wintour has the power of creating a High Fashion Model, the new Top Model of the moment but no a Supermodel, that's out of her hands.

there will not be Supermodels again,

how do you know, you're acting like you're clairvoyant.. It's getting on my nurves.

I'm with you, because before fashion used to be represented by models and there will never be a replacement for such beauties that appeal to such mass markets. Nowadays celebrities sell loads and represent fashion. Same reason why we don't get as much model-covers.
I love models myself though... but I just don't think that in the media's mind--there will be those supermodels who are not only models, but well-known celebrities the way Linda Evangelista, Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford are.

I didnt have time to to visit TFS for quite some time and i am in heaven now. So many great covers this month. This is a must have just because of the great classy american cover!!! My dream came true - models back on the cover of US Vogue.:woot: :woot: :woot:

i dont like how Jessica Stam calls herself "Stam". thats so tryhard. it sounds stupid anyway.

^^ She doesn't "call herself" that. THE DESIGNERS call her that. I think she's awesome and as "stupid" as you think that sounds, it's her last name.

Chanel Iman is a fabulous name for a model. A model's name is SOOOOOOO important to her success!

Can you imagine how hard it would be for a model called Gemma or Daria to be extremely successful now that Gemma Ward and Daria Werbowy are so huge? Proof of this is that there has never been another successful Kate, despite it being such a common name.

Agyness Deyn - a common name spelt in a really unusual way - is very different and, therefore, a good brand-name for this model as it sets her apart from the multitude of Agnes's.

Jessica Stam's career was set on fire when she started going by "Stam" instead of "Jessica Stam", another example of this name-phenomenon.

Individuality is key.

Sorry for my rant, I just think names are incredibly important ... :flower:
Gemma, Raquel, Hilary - unusual names? I don't think so.
To be perfectly honest I don't think name has anything to do with it.
I personally can not get over the fact that Chanel asked an interviewer if she had heard of Coco Chanel, as petty as it is, I can't warm to her.

I don't get all this negativity towards chanel, it seems like people are reaching to finds things wrong with her sometimes
