US Vogue May 2014 : Emma Stone by Craig McDean

Could people quit announcing the end of US Vogue everytime they reveal a cover or coverstar we don't all love? They could get any photographer, model, or celebrity they want in the magazine, sales are not down (as far as I know) and they're still far and away the most stable and widely known fashion magazine out there.

I don't mind the cover. It's slightly drab for May, but I like Emma well enough and this is a good photograph of her. Additionally, the review sounded like there is some promising content inside.

I really wish magazines would learn to live in the season more. I feel like so many amazing pieces from collections get wasted. It may be cliche, but I'm all for a beautiful cover shoot on a beach or some tropical location for the summer issues. I miss that escape. For me the May, June, July and perhaps even August issues should really be focusing on the season in hand, with September being when the change comes. Even then the issue is out in August so it's still in advance anyway.

I feel like they're just constantly and desperately all trying to be ahead of each other, so much so that the products featured are almost not even relevant to the month the issue is around. I like Emma a lot, so I'm happy to see her here, but the colours have made for a rather drab affair. Her British Vogue cover to me is simply a better version of this.

I think many fashion magazines are not really focusing on the seasons anymore. Rather than showing clothes we could wear this month or the mood of the moment, they try to make "artistic" photographs, picking a dress they like from whatever collection because it fits the concept of the shoot. But covers like this are often ruined. Fashion goes too fast and magazines are not helping. I agree, we missed beautiful pieces from the SS 2014 collections (well Prada is everywhere :( ) but I hope we'll get them in the next issues :) (sorry if it was a bit off topic :/ )

I'm getting the August UK Vogue cover vibe too with the hat thing going on, only difference being is that felt in season and looks slightly better executed. I'm curious about the contents now..

this is so autumn, I really dont understand why this cover for May instead for October

The return of Trentini in US Vogue is the most exciting part for me.

Is it just me or does she look like Gemma Ward at first sight? This feels more like autumn. Her first cover was way better than this one.

Sigh, where is Meisel? :(

Well, that's disappointing. The cover looks so drab. Emma's face looks frozen. Styling is kind of tacky. No energy. It looks straight outta sixties, and not in a good way.

IMO putting Fall and Pre-Fall in early issues (before August) is their way of saying "we got this first." I think a lot of magazines want to shoot collections before everyone else regardless of it's availability, and PR are willing to do it (depending on the magazine), because of the publicity they get.

I even remember when Marie Claire shot a Resort Bottega Veneta dress on SJP when she was on their September cover. I was surprised how no one on here commented then that a Resort dress was on the cover of their big FALL issue.

The colors resemble a rotted, sunken pumpkin; but her face looks good - no weird photoshopping or bizarre expression (like Emma's last cover.) Looks like there is some texture to the face too.

This cover shows why i was excited about the Kim and Kanye cover. This here is a snoozefest which we have come to expect from US vogue, Emma is beautifula nd photogenic they would have done something waay better

The cover is kind of autumn-y but I really like it. Looks like a solid issue. I especially can't wait for Tim Walker's ed, as always; the cast seems incredible. Kinda bummed that it's only 6 pages but I love the fact that Grace is the fashion editor. They make a great pair.

Gorgeous cover,so happy that Craig did the cover again.

Since when we have the pre-fall pieces in a May Issue:blink: ,Caroline looks cute tho

I'm a big Emma fan and I'm very excited to see her on the cover again.
I do think it's a decent cover as well. Vogue US is not really my thing. I'm not a big fan of their style, but that's just personal.

Fair enough, if magazines want to be ahead of the times then choosing Pre-Fall/Fall items is clever. That being said, why did they choose this Gucci? From her edit the shot with the blue background would've been so much better (if she was looking to the camera). I can't imagine how the newstands will look next month filled with beige, brown and grey covers
