US Vogue November 2018 : Claire Foy by David Sims

I think there have always been models from famous families: think Margaux Hemingway and Nastassja Kinski.
I really don't mind if they can do the job well.
I wonder, though, how much Kendal should be faulted and how much blame would go to crap editors and photographers who should never be allowed to hold a camera.
I've seen countless images with models standing face forward staring blankly into the camera, like it's a trend editors tried to make happen.
( remember the god-awful hunching from the early 2000s).
The Bellas and Kendalls just happen to be some of the models working through this artistic desert.

The saddest part of this nonstory is the fact that vogue chose to issue an explanation/apology. It's already an issue social media have given these idiots a voice but there is no need for anymore validation....

Mikael Jansson's feature is quite clearly the saving grace of this issue, with the opening shot of Imaan and the one where she's smiling on the studio floor being the clear standouts. The latter reminds me of a shot of Linda Evangelista by Steven Meisel circa 1994!

The "they should've hired a black girl" is such a silly criticism here because not only Imaan is part of the editorial; she even has more solo shots than Kendall. Whoever complained clearly didn't even check out the entire spread.

This silly controversy is the reason why fashion isn’t daring anymore.
How can people try to de daring with the weight of Social Media endless outrage.

I can’t even blame American Vogue for being boring. I can only imagine the time spend to check that the issue is controversy-free.

This controversy just showcase a lack of education on some part but also plain stupidity because I believe some people are not aware that there are white women who have that hair texture naturally.

They had to, I think. It would be unwise for them to just stonewall because they may lose followers or even prospective readers in the process. Also, based on the amount of outlets who picked up on the story, it's not good PR to just ignore. Outrage culture is big business if you're not the one involved. I bet the likes of Fashionista, Daily Mail and E! garner a lot of clicks with such 'drama.'

Kendall or Gigi: *breaths*
Trolls: "I find it offensive, #kendallandgigicancelled, another white privilege girl trying to make trend something that mortals do everytime"
I don't really care about Kendall, I like Gigi and Bella but are not my faves. But this needs to stop.

Although those two very specific things (this and Klein's ed) didn't strike me as offensive, you do understand that those two paradise birds tend to do quite a lot of bull****, don't you? Both Kendall and Gigi have done a fair share of stupid things these past years. They are privileged and dumb. Never forget that Gigi tried to play the "curvy" card quite a few times as a reason for not getting jobs (remember the "Asian eyes"?) and Kendall thought that Pepsi commercial was a good idea (remember the recent model comments?) among many other faux pas.

So no, I don't think questioning the bad behaviour of two multi-millionaire privileged influencers should stop. The problem is just when there isn't actually a problem... like here.
