US Vogue September 2023 : Linda, Cindy, Christy & Naomi by Rafael Pavarotti

Wow this adds to the list of what I anticipate this September: Linda and Steven's book, The Documentary, and now this.

I haven't bought American Vogue in a long time. (recent purchases are back issues from 00s and 90s)

I can't wait to purchase Linda and Steven's book too / this september issue AND the documentary series.
Supermodels' dream for all of us who love these women.

Really excited about this! Can’t wait to get the issue.

I think it’s beautiful, but I can’t lie that the way they have them stood is kind of giving Real Housewives cast photo. I’m not in love with the styling, especially on Cindy and Naomi - but overall I think it’s lovely. Linda looks gorgeous. I wonder who shot it?

It's great to see the Supers on a Vogue cover, but the corporate all-black styling sucks all the fashion credibility from the image and makes it seem like a promotional image better suited to The Hollywood Reporter or Entertainment Weekly. I think they all look fine, just fine. For an American Vogue cover featuring the original supermodels, I feel they should have been aiming for more than fine. They all look awkwardly composited together, zero chemistry.

Based on the metallic background, I wonder whether this was shot by Rafael Pavarotti? Ethan James Green, maybe? I'd be surprised if it was an established photographer like Sims, McDean or Mert and Marcus.

It's better than I anticipated, given how weak a lot of US Vogue's recent covers have been, with the exception of Margot's. Impressive that they got a full body shot of Linda. Otherwise it's fine as others have said but nothing noteworthy really.

Are these the specific models chosen due to the Apple + series? There may obviously be more if it is a fold out.

Christy looks great. A little underwhelming, but still, nice to see them here. Are we thinking it’s a gatefold potentially?

We all knew it, this is great but the image is kind of lackluster....

We wanted THIS!

I also was bit stunned by Cindy in the middle but I think it has to do with Linda and Naomi not getting along, not following each other anymore on Instagram, and some rumors lol...

I was excited by the US VOGUE + THEM but then I got this underwhelmed feeling of ''why going corporate??'' HOWEVERRR ahaha then I was like : these specific women who are true SUPERMODELSSS were known and are known to be sharp business women, therefore the poses / the styling and vibe is definitely on point and on brand: they are the embodiment of fashion models turned business women and entrepeneurs.

If I'm honest though it feels more Vanity Fair than Vogue, but we'll see, I will BUY this for sure and I can't wait to see the video of the shoot and the editorial.

I root so much for Linda! She has been done wrong by the industry to an extent, and of course degraded by the billionaire. So seeing her on the September cover of American Vogue ON MERIT not because of a rich husband or tons of followers is heartwarming.

You mention corporate and now I have this image stuck as female execs attending a work cocktail event. lol. Looks like it was shot by Ethan, yes. Would have preferred Meisel but oh well.

I didn't even notice the absence of Claudia. Why would there be beef between her an Anna? They were both Karl's friends...

^ she was a ONS, live by the sword..

Her son is doing great, working at dad's at 15 and all that and seems close to Salma, too. I don't see how she was 'wronged'.. she did the body procedure on her face all by herself and we all know nothing ever mattered more than her looks.

Kite, I feel like we almost got that via photoshop, this one is just more about authority, while that one is a bit.. 'we still got it' level of horny? I like the new one better personally.

I wonder if versustito is okay...

^ didn't she cheat quite publicly on some bf with one of those football guys no one remembers after the World Cup? (I might be wrong). The idea that she's any type of victim is laughable, she was always very much in command (from the Elite guy to staging her comeback via the 'brutally disfigured' story).. it's okay if things don't go your way sometimes but you're not exactly 'wronged' just because someone doesn't want to marry you, it's not 1790 anymore lol.

I only meant she was wronged because the child support matter was pushed to the extent that she had to physically appear in court to get a billionaire to own up to his responsibilities (one-night-stand, fling, cheating it doesn't actually matter), while he awarded a $12 million trust to the then-toddler child he had with the actress at the same time.
Also the way his lawyers smeared her image saying she only wanted the money because she's lazy? Tasteless!

Anyway, it didn't matter in the end because here she is, on the September cover of American Vogue after numerous campaigns and a book with Meisel. She's fashion royalty and doesn't have to pay her way into films and onto covers.

Oh... I really hoped this would've been a spectacular Meisel extravaganza in British Vogue. Guess we'll be having Swift over there.

Other than that initial disappointment, I was also initially disappointed by the visual result of this cover (it's giving very FASHION Canada, no?), but it's slowly growing on me. Just the idea of these spectacular women finally back on thee American Vogue cover, September cover no less, is fascinating and beyond thrilling so despite the rather wide room for improvement this issue is an instant classic and a must-have! It's like the fashion forces in the universe have perfectly aligned for this September, so much is happening and it feels great.

But I have to say, if British Vogue is shot by Steven by some chance I'll find it very hard to justify sparing another $15 on this, considering that the two issues will probably be identical to each other in content.

It's difficult to get excited about seeing the same bunch of 90s supermodels on a cover yet again, so I'm not surprised we're rehashing the life and times of Linda Evangelista for some energy.

In this issue, I would love a feature that plays on US Vogue's 1992 supermodels cover, and catches up with people we don't hear from, like Yasmeen Ghauri. And another chance to pay tribute to Tatjana Patitz and her work for the magazine.

I wonder what the number of pages will be... I'm going with a generous estimate of 278 pages.

I'll never understand men's need to compare women, and discredit one in order to validate another. Pretty baffling, but I keep seeing it on British tabloids so maybe this is just a cultural thing I don't understand. Linda, just like Salma, are women over a certain age, they don't just walk into rooms and are handed the projects handed to, say, Anya Taylor Joy (Hollywood) or Rianne Van Rompaey (modeling). It takes a lot of work and in Linda's case, it's taken a lot of drama and suffering, she was in hiding for years. So everyone does pay a high price to navigate aging when you're judged, clearly, exclusively for that.

I remember the lawsuit, she asked for an irrational monthly sum.. they figured it out, and like I said, her son is not just getting money, he is very much a part of the family, vacationing with them and already working with the grandfather.

and once again no sight of the most famous of them all, Claudia Schiffer. I’m glad the cover looks bad.

I don’t think there’s any beef between Claudia and Anna, otherwise she wouldn’t have done the video after all of the backlash from not attending last MET’s ball.
or is it?

does it feel wrong and incomplete? once again, yes it does.
