UK Vogue September 2023 : Linda, Naomi, Cindy & Christy by Rafael Pavarotti

as usual with Edward's Vogue, the editorial flow is a mess

That's exactly what I was thinking - I miss September issues where the editorials flowed like chapters in a book. With pacing between moments where the content is dramatic and then more laid-back.

The whole thing just feels low-effort, like Vogue has forgotten how to be itself and is finding excuses not to dress up and leave the house. OK, it goes the corner shop three times a week in its branded sweatshirt, pretending the world is a catwalk, but it makes no real-life effort to make anything truly memorable happen during all its days.

Horrible, and random set of editorials....not only Edward is not doing his job....

But, like the whole "fashion direction" of the magazine wasn't disastrous enough, this September issue gave a DIGITAL COVER and an 8 page (printed) feature to - drum roll, please! - (ex) WAG and a British tabloid star - Coleen Rooney. Great job, Edward - if your intention was to put the final nail in the coffin of the magazine which, not so long ago, was known as the "FASHION BIBLE" - congratulations, you've succeeded admirably! :wavinghand::wavinghand::wavinghand:

bought today for £3.99, contents are boring and unfashionable, i miss david sims bouncing models or his poetic editorials on the outside, the supermodels editorial is much better in print apart from that clashing blue background all the style, that said, another boring issue under Edward

Such a bad photos, those super models deserve being photogrpahed by an artists as usual.

how will sales go in your opinion?here in london i went around a few whsmiths and supermarkets and the shelves are still full after three days, hasn't it been as successful as everyone expected?

Thank you so much for posting this, I loved reading the interview. I wished the photos and concept were better executed but all in all we got the supermodels back, but yeah ultimately I echo everybody's reaction to a lack of skills and concept from the photographer and editors mainly.

So I’m late. Admittedly I’ve been out of the loop on magazines recently. So I’m kinda coming into this with a lack of background…. So my horror is compounded by ten.

I can’t believe what Vogue (all Vogues) have become over the last decade. The absurdity that Vogue US and Vogue UK share a SEPTEMBER cover story. I went to purchase this issue this morning and for ten minutes couldn’t find it because I did not know that Vogue UK and US had the same cover subjects. Like I remember the days when we would laugh about the thought of even sharing one editorial subject / model between issues. Now this… I know Condé is out of money. Paying editors only a quarter of what they would have paid a decade ago. Having editors working on multiple titles. But just because money is tight does not mean we need to sacrifice creativity and ingenuity. The world is only becoming more connected. Each edition of Vogue needs it’s own voice and aesthetic.

It feels like everything that drew me into Fashion is crumbling, and what will be left?

Anyway why couldn’t I&V, Mert & Marcus, David Sims, Glen Luchford, Cass Bird (this one is a lil out there), Lachlan Bailey, Alasdair McLellan, Tim Walker, Steven Klein, Paolo Roversi, or Craig McDean have shot this cover? There is like 20 or 30 other photographers I would have thought of first to shoot a story about the supers.

Why couldn’t each model get their own cover for Vogue UK, and just have the group for Vogue US?

Why is the styling so muted? Edward is capable of so much more. He’s done stories for Vogue US before with more flair so like wtf is this?

There is something so sad about this, beyond the hideous photography.

It seems that none of the participants in this nostalgia-fueled circus realize that the party is over, and has been for a very long time.
