Valentino S/S 2012 : Bette, Fei Fei, Maud, Zuzanna & Clement by Deborah Turbeville

This is perfect! so romantic, love Fei Fei, Zuzanna & Clement!!
Probably one of the best campaigns of the season

they feature a similar concept of literal 'mise en scene', kind of randomly placed in a scenery. except that apparently this features girls that people seem to love and Givenchy featuring Gisele, who seems to be disliked by anyone who 'gets' high fashion.

basically a double standard

difference being that the Givenchy images (especially the ones with Gisele, and this is coming from someone who wouldn't call himself a fan) portray much more of a mood that fits the clothes and complements them, while here it's kind of random how 4 girls in nude lace dresses are placed around a ruin. apparently waiting. for Godot perhaps?

as it seems, people love this campaign mostly cause they like seeing 'their' girls here.

but that's a different story again

tbh i like the concept and all from both campaigns. Though i see them very differently. I think the whole mood is different.
I just this cause it's romantic, i like the mood and sure i love bette!
Tbh, i really like Gisele and I do like the givenchy campaign, only i think gisele and mbc could have modeled in better.

however, we all see it in a different way..

^I'm not the biggest fan of any of this girls, but I accept the campaign is one of the best of the season, you don't have to think that much the concept or anything, is just beautiful, I like more Gisele than this girls, but this campaign is PERFECT. Nothing to do with favorite models. I also admit that I miss Caroline Brasch Nielsen :(

Nothing special, I fail to see what is being fawned over.

Beautiful setting and dremy scenery, but too many models in my opnion. I prefer the last picture with only two people.

OH LORD....I Love This......Beautiful!

I think some of us are so used to "in your face" that you find these images are a bit quiet, but if you're a fan of Turbeville work, this is actually very much in tune with her style. I love how the images are used on Valentino's website.

This will probably be the best campaign of the season. Sad that most people would prefer an over-photoshopped, va-va-voom M&M lensed spectacle over something as quiet and serene as this.

Why does it all look so unpolished? The one with Clement/Fei Fei is nice though.

Seeing the full set I came to love this campaign even more. Can't wait to see those in print.

I'm afraid it's not quite as black and white as that.
The neutral hues and ethereal mood do not equate to subtlety, nor require a refined taste to appreciate them. Tim Walker often uses natural lighting, but his sets and styling are always incredible - the lighting tones down what could easily appear gimmicky - it's a question of balance.
This campaign is overbalanced on the 'subtle' side - the clothes, models and set are all pastel coloured and washed out, and none of those factors are particularly interesting.

I think these images capture a rare perfection that is hardly ever seen in print these days. Yes, it's a bit quiet, but not bland and definitely memorable. To me, it's a very natural campaign with little details making the images all the more perfect. The beauty of it is quite subtle.

I'm about to die from my love for this campaign. 5 stars!!!
