Vanity Fair March 2008 : The Hollywood Issue by Annie Leibovitz

I like it. And look America is on there. I don't think the choices are that bad. To me if it has to be one of the Jessica's it's better that's it's Biel rather than Alba or Simpson.

I only like Emily Blunt out of all of them and I really really hate America Ferrera.

Ok, the fact that Chuck and Larry is one of Biel's films says it all. Zoe Saldana and Ginnifer Goodwin-are you for real? Alice Braga is gonna be a whatever happened to question in a few years and Elizabeth Banks is generic. Seriously. I get her confused with Julie Bowen and whatever other hot blonde starlet of the moment there is. Instead of Biel, Goodwin, Banks, Braga and Saldana they should have had Saiorse Ronan from "Atonement", Paula Patton, Marion Cotillard-come on, she SHOULD have been on the cover and Kristen Stewart from "Into the Wild". I am shocked they didn't try to pawn Sienna off on us.

I love the colors, they all look like Laduree macaroons.

That said, I'm not entirely sold on the stepford wives look of the styling. It's very prissy.

haha they kind of do! Laduree is a french company which produces macaroons and cakes and things.

The cover is pretty, but its boring because there really isn't that many fresh, young talented ladies right now. It seems a lot older than the last cover I remember with Lindsay Lohan and company.

Why was Biel on the cover and someone like America on the very last page? What an insult. And Ellen Page has every right to be on VF, who cares if she's not 'glamourous'? Theres more to life than that, she's got some serious talent, to say the least.[/quote]

Elizabeth Banks is generic but has about 5 movies coming out for 2008. Zoe Saldana is in the new Star trek movie directed by J.J Abrams and also James Cameron's new movie Avatar, so she'll probably blow up after this.
I agree they should have had Paula Patton, Saiorse Ronan and Marion Cotillard on there instead of Goodwin and Braga (she was pretty wooden in I Am Legend), as for Biel she's starting to do more "serious" films, so maybe VF thinks she'll be one the next big things.
I would have liked to see Rinko Kikuchi too.

I say the cover choices are 6/10, because I don't even know the last four that they chose. And about Ellen Page, I think the world is rooting for her. There are people who believe that she's really talented that they are willing to do ANYTHING to make her famous. Haven't seen the movie, but why do you think Apatow wrote Juno?

I saw Juno and loved it but that fact had nothing to do with Ellen Page.

Apatow did not write Juno. A very talented woman by the name of Diablo Cody did. Honeyisle, I almost wrote Rinko Kinkuchi as a cover choice.

It will be interesting to see if Zoe lands mag covers after the boost of the Cameron and Star Trek films.

really? exclusively designed for this shoot? cause it looks like past RTW pieces, just in other colors and sans embroidery.

The cover is divine but I can't understand why some people get so shook up about who is on the cover or who ends up on the fold out? The purpose of these kind of Hollywood Issues of V.F. is to show "hope" for these up and coming actors and actresses. It is up to them and the choices they make to become big house hold names! And looking back at the old covers it will ALWAYS be a hit or miss with the "fresh faces" selected, their future is uncertain but sparks interest NOW.

I think people get 'shook up', and this is just my opinion, because Biel is hardly comparable to the other ladies that grace the cover and she isn't much of a 'fresh face' anymore, is she? People always have their opinions, can't please everyone. My perfect cover would have been anyone on that fold out on the front INSTEAD of her but that is only because I am traumatized from forced Seventh Heaven intake. Anyway- I am more excited to see inside! Do you think that little 'Hitchcock classics' is a hint to the theme of the pictures this year? I love this issue no matter who is on the cover!

im so sick of these 'hollywood issues'... yes we know there is an interesting and glam side to hollywood but we can see that at the acadamy awards.. what i would really like to see (and it would be a hoot to see Vanity Fair have a crack at it) is all the different kind of girls that come to hollywood, not just american girls. and not the 'oh ive been living in a flat and have had a bit part in a commercial' kind of story, but i mean there are so many talented starlets living down in lala land, it would be interesting to see them on the cover.... who really needs to see annother pic of Jessica Biel?
