Vanity Fair October 2012 : Katie Holmes

Um, The Learning Annex? Seriously even Grazia Australia have better covers than this. They could've at least found an archive shot from her earlier years.

Although VF is not a fashion magazine per se, it has always been a high quality news interest, culture magazine known for its journalism and PHOTOGRAPHY that is fashion-centric and stylized ... (sorry for the caps just trying to make a point), but they have always had the likes of Lebowitz, Ritts, Testino etc lensing for the magazine some very iconic images that have become part of the fabric of pop culture. Not only that but former fashion editors include Leon Talley, Saltzman & Michael Roberts etc & they boast many fashion advertisers. There is a reputation that the magazine should uphold and not allow these sort of covers do compromise that tradition and their credibility as a blue chip publication.

What a lazy effort. As usual. Surely a picture from the James Bond editorial/feature would have made a better cover. I guess it is all about sales because the artistic effort (the little that was left) seems to have dried up completely.

The whole TomKat divorce was very anti-climatic to the media. I bet they were expecting a lot more juicy stories and a bitter custody battle but it flew through the courts and a quick divorce was granted and both parties have remained with lips sealed. So I can't help but feel VF missed the train on this one. It might have sold back in July/August but it is a non story at this point - with dated pictures.

If they wanted to do a feature on how freaky Scientology is, I think it would have been smarter to wait for The Master to be released.

Beautifully put , Gary!!!! :)

Maybe this is the newsstand cover and subscribers will receive something nice... Like all the actors who played James Bond together or just a classic still from one of the movies. This is a cheap cover and a bad road for VF to go down; surely they could've used a photoshoot outtake of Katie for the cover? They did it for the Michael Jackson/Farrah Fawcett and all their "dead celebrity" covers.

Desperation to get her on the cover

Just no words for how pathetic this is, not to mention irrelevant, it was one of the tamest, quickest divorces in Hollywood history, and they still trying hard to give the story legs, its irrelevant by now, i cant see many being interested in this.

Why do they keep using paparazzi shots for their covers?? It's so boring and lazy. Ugh! They need a new editor ASAP.

it would be nice, if it wasn't for the fact that even having a subscription I received Middleton cover. this Katie cover is as lame as it gets. horrible. hopefully this won't become their regular style

can't wait for this. the cover story is turning out to be a great piece of investigative journalism. :D

Did anyone look at the cover gallery they did of all the times Tom Cruise posed for VF? I mean, what is this...

Haha it looks like he is doing a Nureyev, but i dont mind that cover actually, think he looks good there. The naked Herb Ritts one is way more ridiuclous to me.
