NEW YORK, December 13, 2007 – As Vera Wang's informal pre-fall presentation began, she explained that she was focused on daywear. But the designer's definition of the category is uniquely her own—call it couture casual. Tees were gathered, tucked, and pleated until they didn't resemble tees at all. Alternatively, pieces like men’s trousers, shapely jackets, and loose sack dresses came with built-in stretch because, Wang said, she wanted them to have the feeling of a T-shirt. Frocks were either scattered with glittery sequins or decorated with voluptuous Pierrot collars and jabots. "It's day—just add a sweater," Wang insisted. There were also plenty of those, from lightweight waffle knits to slouchy cardigans, all built for layering. “It’s a little tougher than before," the designer said of the collection. “But still femme."

i know it is winter, i know its vera wang but she does actually have some soft colours. the only thing that stands out it the long cream frill tunic/top and the yellow coat

I wish the pictures were of clearer quality, because I can't really make out the details here. The color palette does seem very reserved, which isn't really a problem for me, but might turn others off. Overall a nice collection, and what a pre-fall collection should be, subtle and not overbearing.

It's so strange, as I clicked on this I was thinking to myself "I really hope she continues in the more linear, sleek direction she tampered with for spring" and sure enough she did, so I'm very happy about that. I love the new tougher attitude she's talking about.

She's shown us she can do strange, organic volumes and shapes like few others can, now I want to see her do something with a bit more fluidity, something more of the body so to speak. I can't wait for fall.

I'm loving that last look of the black dress with wide open collar, elbow length sleeve, high heel booties and demi-sheer tights with pearl necklace ....it's almost Coco Chanel's own look gone artsy.

I love Vera! This is definitely one of my favorite collections! She's so classy as always.

Many great pieces and overall looks in the lot, I think. Some of it, the jckts esp., feels very Comme to me. The long gloves are also a great touch.

...a bit off topic...but where are the rest of the pre-fall collections? Where's Balenciaga, Dior, Louis Vuitton, YSL, etc?

^They'll probably appear in the next couple of weeks. It'd be nice to get an exact date, though, I'm getting kind of impaitient waiting to see a few collections...
