Versace F/W 2023.24 Los Angeles

And that eyesore that is the centre staircase isn’t even used… It’s on the level of a department store fashion show mediocrity..
That whole building screams hideous department store in 1992. If it wasn't for the mildly interesting exhibitions they have here and there, I would think it houses a variety of sketchy call centers or the last IBM headquarters lol. I'm surprised the view from there is so nice and different from other places nearby.

I don't get numbers like this.. it's like something Alber would've done in his last years at Lanvin when he was on autopilot. Who even likes that? I feel like the mood for this category of clothing is more around what Nensi does.. sheer, soft, light pieces, not this stiff, balloon-y, Valentino-esque thing that looks straight out of 2011.

Naomi is really not that great, it's not like she looks bad but her presence can be quite annoying and immediately sinks everything into a mindset of 'routine.. we've seen this multiple times before' even if we haven't.. she doesn't even bring 'supermodel nostalgia' because we've never gotten a well-deserved LONG break from her, so at this point, I wonder if she plugs herself into shows and designers can't say no because she knows too much, you know, Epstein, Saudi Arabia and all that.

I don't feel like watching the video because I've come to realize that I absolutely do not like the current format of runway videography. It's always the same music, same sterile fierce walk from 7000 different angles. Nobody is selling me anything. What is taking so long for voguerunway to upload the pictures? I check back periodically and they've still only on posted 10 looks.

Same. I never watch runway videos anymore. It's just pointless. There are more aerial shots than models.

WHERE'S THE SEX? Where's the bombshell ferocity of a Versace woman?! She keeps trying to give us EmRata as if to say that's who the Versace woman is and girlfriend can barely walk. I don't know everything just looks confused and a useless waste of resources. Demna was right, fashion as entertainment is the death of this industry. Everything is a disposable meme.

But, how else are they going to show off that Atelier Devineau set they paid €1'000'000'000/minute for?

Jokes aside, I don't mind aerial shots as they break up the monotone "full frontal, panning close-up, turn" pattern, but keep it in moderation and make it clear on which model we're supposed to be looking at.

Donatella is beginning to look human...OMG!! After so many decades, she has found a decent plastic surgeon out there!!

Thank you. I hate the overediting of these videos. Three seconds on a look, cutting between different looks all the time, going out of order, etc. I can never get a sense of the collection from these videos because of how choppy these videos are.

Just the fact that she showed in LA is enough to make me side-eye this collection. What a rubbish city for a fashion show.

Also agree. I feel like LA is the antithesis of "fashion."

I really like it, they really match the tackiness of Versace and L.A. It needed more vulgarity in the shape of C-listers in the runway tho. With the proper adaptations the red carpet dresses are gonna be amazing.

To be honest, watching a livestream of a runway show is always a mess, especially when the setting is more than a straight line and the models are walking back-to-back. Every shot is physically chronological, but doesn't read as such. It's all raw footage.

In the mid/late 00s, it was generally custom for a fully edited video to be distributed a few days after the show, which allowed for post-production: colour correction, putting all of the shots in order of the looks, editing the soundtrack, etc. This is still done today, but the messy livestream has often been reuploaded several times before a final cut is released.

For example, here's two completely different cuts of the exact same show, Prada Fall 2020:

The show cut raw from livestream:

The official finalised cut of the show:

The first video films and distributes the event as it happens, while the second film reorganises each shot to show each look at its best even if it "breaks" from the original runtime.
