It's clear the Vitale guy is obsessed with 80's gay iconography, the mustache hunky guy image looking like it's coming straight from a safe for working segment of Colt magazine / TitanMen website. That guy could be mistaken for David Anthony's son (search at your own risk lol).
The main point most people from the fashion pack / people praising the current creative direction are missing is that Versace made its breakthrough as an cultural icon / symbol exclusively thanks to the 90's: the supermodels, the drama, the over the top glamour, the tackiness and opulency. Of course the 80's collection Versace helped the brand gain popularity and relevancy in the fashion conversation but no way it would have turned in a fashion / culture powerhouse it is without the collections from the 90's.
Versace to the average customers (the ones actually spending) is Linda Evangelista in a fluo colored vinyl minidress and Naomi Campbell in a leopard studded leather jacket, not this watered down version of Versace Jeans Couture and Istante by Gianni Versace.

With those prices, I can't wait to see all the fashion pack / influencers, who praised the Vitale and the show, NOT going to wear anything from the collection...unless they get something for free or 90% discounted thanks to connections lol

The more I look at the collection (and the comments), the more I realise Vitale struck a nerve. Yes, Versace became world-famous for its unapologetic glamour and the supermodels and celebs associated with it, but that's just not enough to keep it going - if it was (enough), Donatella putting familiar faces from Naomi to Gigi in baroque prints and chainmail season after season and making J.Lo wear the swimsuit version of the infamous palm-print dress would've kept the brand hot - but it didn't. Someone needed to reshovel things a bit so that people remember it's not just about the gold Medusa and the occasional high-slit gown on the red carpet, and that's exactly what Vitale did. Some of it may not land, but a lot of it has a panache Versace - and fashion overall - has been missing for a while.
And while I don't think their new faces are that adequate for the house, I also find it somewhat peculiar how negatively visible signs of gay male affinities are perceived in a zone crowded and led by gay men to quite an extent - brands from Givenchy to Miu Miu have been pushing former and current Victoria's Secret girls for years now and that has been celebrated as a sign of diversity and fashion opening up to different types of beauty, however when there's a (not even that) open display of homo aesthetics, it's considered vulgar/uncool.. seems rather heteronormative to me.
