This has already been posted in the Brazilian ads thread, but I think it merits it's own thread because it's gorgeous and could someone please tell me if this brand is related to the artist Victor Hugo - the Halston/Andy Warhol guy (not the French writer).

Photographer is Valerio Trabanco, scanned by Leonardo.

The Victor Hugo I'm wondering about: Well, there is a sample of his art on youtube - but don't watch it unless you are ok with hairy men getting full-body Brazilian waxing and cutting an Andy Warhol painting with their appropriately shaved privates :lol: Apparently he was Halston's bf for a while.

Really, I can't even post the link - if you want to see something priceless type "Victor Hugo Warhol" in youtube. Don't say I didn't warn you...

:blink::blink::shock::shock::o:o

Victor Hugo - Andy Warhol???????
heu...
Victor Hugo (1802-1885) is one of the most famous french writer-poet of the XIXth century......

but yes there's another Victor Hugo - performer and asst. of Andy Warhol...
sorry for all the smileys.... but.... when someone is talking about Victor Hugo, i'm kind of surprised people are not thinking about the 'first' Victor Hugo..........:blink:

^Eh, I would if this wasn't a disco inspired ad campaign with Halston references. Having read up a bit on the Man Who Stole the Famous French Writer's Name - I now realize that he was a bit of a pariah in the Halston circles, apparantly, probably for causing Halston's downfall.

To upset you further, I have read some of Victor Hugo's work and I really dislike what I've read ;)

Anyway, it's likely that neither the writer nor the performance artist have anything to do with this campaign. Or does this remind you of the famous author's work?

^not at all....
now that you explained it i understand why you were not thinking of (my) Victor Hugo....
;)....

but i saw Victor Hugo and then Andy Warhol.... I was just like "what??? people are thinking about our Victor Hugo when seeing such a name...."
a bit too much chauvin, i guess....

^Yes, I can see how that would be weird - like someone referring to Ingmar Bergman - the p*rn actor or something. It would not sit well with me

I really am curious about the origin of this brand, though.

a mod should change the title for Victor Hugo S/S 07.08 ^_^

ETA - Victor Hugo should never be in the Brazilian S/S 07.08 ad campaigns, in fact, the brand 'Victor Hugo' was registered in USA, even if the first store was built in Ipanema, it's officialy a north american brand ^_^
