How can she be 'too American'? She looks like every other stereotypical Hollywood trophy wife, who shops for a pastime. I don't think they will be in California for long to be honest. A few more years maybe.

Regarding accent, older people have a harder time losing accents they grew up with. Your brain isn't as 'malleable' to learning accents/languages. If you are young it depends on how much time you spend with people of a certain accent, usually peers rather than family.
