Viktor & Rolf for H&M

I have no doubt this is a big marketing decission, the guys need more awareness and doing H&M means people will consider them as a BIG name. This will be a great way to get more recognition in the USA and other parts of the world. I can already tell you that the Dutch H&M stores will be swamped with people...

I think we will see some iconic Viktor&Rolf things. I expect quite a few ribbons, roses and tuxedo jackets and pants. I think a possible men range will feature their typical 'geek chic' although I doubt if their male clientele will accept that... quite a few of my friends who are V&R buyers hate this collaboration.

i wish we have a H&M store someday here in Turkey
first Karl Lagerfeld then Stella Mccartney and now Viktor&Rolf
i am missing so much things:cry:

that stinks, kinda ironic as a lot of the H&M stuff is made in turkey.

^you're right lucy92
i dont know why they don't open a store in Turkey actually,it can get so much fan here in Turkey

As others have mentioned, I think this could be a successful collaboration. I don't know much about their women's line (other than the blue screen/mask/motorcycle helmet runway gimmicks), but their men's line could translate well. If you look at individual items, they're all very wearable. Classic with slight twists. I, and I expect most of their followers here, are more attracted to their takes on formal wear, but for H&M, there's no reason why they couldn't come up with some attractive casual wear that'll appeal to young and old. If the collaboration means that I'd have a chance to drive to the Cleveland Saks to buy Monsieur, I'd be content.

I think "average guys" would go for some of these looks. Safe, but chic.

I really love thier look for menswear and womenswear-

like you said, classic with a twist- but still "safe"- basically that sums up the look that I aim for every day

looking at thier monsieur runway, I saw in some shows, they were modeling all of their own clothes! Thats so funny- any reason why?

a bit miffed initially cuz they're going so commercial............but like someone pointed out, they probably would be more "popular" to most people after the collaboration...........and lots of ribbons, i loved all the pink fluff from ss 05

this could be very interesting just got to see how it turns out...

and im sure males will be happy that they are doing menswear too since the last two collaberations were just womenswear. not to say they're gona like it though!

i think its smart for them to make menswear for H&M, ive noticed that some of the suits that H&M sells already are pretty pricey. i hope there will be a lot of cute printed shirts (like stella for H&M)

i also hope they wont use a lot of silk.

and don't forget that designers accept to design for HM (plus a extra $$$$$$$ check) to better their brand awareness!

people who usually don't give a f*ck of Vr or don't even know them will discover them... especially young people who are obvious targets of big brands, as Chanel, Stella and co.

definitely!! increase awareness and make some big bucks in the process!! ha ha... besides, a lot of people will want to b uy it when they find out that VR are big shot couture designers from Milan with an absolutely mental but fabulous store!!

ha ha...I KNOWW,RIGHT?! TELL ME ABOUT IT!!! apparently, that store won awards fopr it's design or something...it's so outrageous!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!

The Lagerfeld collection featured quite an elaborate menswear part that was very 'Dior Homme'... I think they must do something cause their monsieur line is very dear to them as well. They wear it all the time!

I saw Rolf Snoeren in Amsterdam, and he was all dressed in V&R monsieur. So he really knows what their own clothes feel like.

I don't agree with you Alura... if you were talking of Karl for H&M of course..

Lagerfeld for men was very un-Dior Homme: jackets were quite large (regards to DH of course) and shorter... my boyfriend is very tall and very DH as well and it didn't fit him at all.. the only DH like were ties..

if and when i have my own clothing line i wanna model for my own clothes too. ;) i think its just part of their crazy mentality... they call them the crazy "kids" of fashion in finland...

im really looking forward to the mens stuff cause last year with stella my bf couldnt get any of the pieces since they all were too girly.. but i do wanna see how the womens wear is gonna be too.. i have a feeling its gonna be something with a lot of black color...i dont know why

Everybody seems to be raving about their menswear and I must admit I love some pieces too. But it's just that they don't design the menswear themselves. Dutch fashion talent Erik Frenken is designing menswear for Viktor & Rolf (and he's doing a great job). I guess they're too busy with other things. :innocent: (like marketing;))

:o i had no idea..
it makes sense since their mens line is more 'grounded' has more of a distinctive style than their ever changing women's signature, they are very creative but as in a mosaic

V&R menswear for h&m must be good, this i'd like to see, even though i still remain against the collaboration

i had no idea that v&r are so 'unknown', if csm students dont know about them, who does? here they are quite famous, the perfume helped them a lot in getting commercially recognised.
i certainly find them talented, but very bad managed, almost from the start.
understood that they need money, but they seem a bit desperate to me
