Viktor & Rolf for H&M

thesiren said:
viktor & rolf pieces aren't wearable for the most part, unless you're a truly stylish person who doesn't give a f*ck what people think. i can't see the masses who shop at h&m appreciating their flair, in the event the things that make it to the racks have that v&r touch.

i love that.

i'll wear anything if it's interesting and looks good.

so hopefully that allows me some stylish moments.

I must say I don't really agree with the collaboration, though. Victor and Rolf the men are also Victor and Rolf brand, so it's like the entire V&R brand is selling out. Whereas, Lagerfeld is just (not meaning that in an insulting way at all) a designer, and has the freedom to make clothes without dragging the brands he works for along, if you see what i mean.

Also, Karl Lagerfeld to me is about making beautiful clothes. So trying to bring that to the public is a good thing for him. But V&R is a kind of fashion ideal, which is something that I feel shouldn't be constrained by mass market production, cost constraints, cheap materials, etc.

I can see why they'd do it (for $$$), but I'd rather have one exquisitely crafted garment than a million cheap imitations, even if it cost thousands.

Maybe that's just me, though, with my oddball "ideals". It's just that fashion for me is very emotional and intuitive

They are strange bedfellows but I'll be the first in line to snap up their pieces! Well...as long as they aren't pillow-ish blanketcoats. hahaha...

I feel that it's as strange a collaboration as Proenza Schouler for Target's "Go International" line.

I would expect some good accessories from the V&R for H&M line as well, since H&M has refocused themselves on creating better accessory lines. Can't wait!

its really just too bad that i will no longer be in europe and able to buy H&M when the collection is out :( x100

IS Madonna about to sign as the new face of Hennes & Mauritz? According to a report in Swedish newspaper The Daily Expressesn, the singer is currently in negotiations with the company about posing for a campaign to advertise its new high fashion line – by Viktor & Rolf – that is due in stores in November. "She's a superstar, a style icon – and controversial. Now Madonna could be H&M's next clothing model," it said. While the company itself is being characteristically reticent about commenting on the rumours, the Expressen cites Madonna's long history of collaboration with Swedes, including music producers, songwriters, music video directors and yoga instructors, as proof that she may soon be its new model. thats cool. last time they used celebrity (that i remember) model was isabella rosselini. but madonna sounds good, she can totally rock for example male suits, as she has worn dior homme in the past. ;)

wwd said today that an announcement is imminent. i would love it if madonna designed something for H&M. that was another rumour!

i highly doubt she would do any designing and why would we want her to? lolz.

my dad has the biggest crush on isabella rosellini.

i hope v&r for h&m has some really amazing tops with neat collars and insane cuffs. it's probaly just wishful thinking!

I think ill judge an opinion on it either way .. when i see some pictures nearer the time.I just hope they get the sizing right .. stella and karls stuff was both such odd sizing .. stella extra small tops fell of me and im not exsactly thin so what with that ?? very odd.Im thinking that there wont be as much if a buzz for this stuff and viktor and rolf arent known on such a super wide scale like stella is.

I think Madonna as the face of the V&R line for H&M is perfect.

I can't wait to see what they put out.
