Viktor & Rolf for H&M

the first thing i thought was ...
SO-are they BOTH going to be in the ads???????
that is probably what i am most curious about right now...
:p

Ditto. :-))

unexpected but disappointed big time, i think V&R are sooo overrated, even prada would be better. but it was well timed though, the hype for V&R in Europe are incoming...

i guess you all MISSED the fact that viktor and rolf have already DONE this for la redoute....

...

so it is acutally quite a natural choice...
not unexpected at all....
if anything...not very original, since la redoute did it first...
i have a sweater from the V&R for la redoute collection...

the stuff was -
black tuxedo pant(which karl also did)
a white shirt (which karl also did)
a grey or ivory puff slv t-nk swtr- which i have
a tux jkt-which karl also did
a blk silk shirt dress-which was actually quite nice
they also did boots- which i bought and returned cause they were awful
and grey flannel trousers-see above...

so i think i sort of can guess what the h&m collection will look like...
i only hope they use a bit more imagination this time...
either way- should be interesting....

*i've known this for a little while and am so glad to finally be able to talk about it!!!...
:D

how much was this stuff, softgrey?

i hope they come out with a fragrance for H&M as well. eau de karl, the scent that lagerfeld did for H&M was nasty!!

i also hope that supplies arent as limited as they were for stella. i hope H&M takes the "ebay effect" into consideration.

Alas we can shop in peace. I seldom, if ever, hear about Viktor & Rolf in the states so I doubt many people will pick up on this even if it is H&M.

Yeah, the La Redoute attempt should've been an indicator for things to come. And frankly,I don't find the actual work they do as conceptual anymore since they have become so commercialised. Their ideas are gimmicks so they should know what they're doing in mass market. They are fastly becoming what they said they intended to be years ago as becoming a globalised brand.

it will be interesting to see how they fare in the states as they are not as well known to americans as they are to europeans. you have to be deeply interested in the fashion game to know who they are, they don't have the instant name recodgnition as karl, stella or others like prada, mcqueen, galliano do.

hopefully there will be pics in tommorows wwd.

Viktor & Rolf Sign On With H&M
PARIS – Viktor & Rolf, famous for fantastical dresses dipped in silver or dangling with hundreds of bells, are trying their hand at cheap and cheerful.

Swedish fast-fashion giant H&M said Thursday the Dutch design wizards would do a one-time collection of women’s wear, men’s wear and accessories for November delivery in 24 countries, continuing an annual collaboration that has unleashed pandemonium for bargain-priced Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney designs in past years.

A launch event and ad campaign is in the works to back the line, an H&M spokeswoman said.

Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren burst on to the international fashion scene in 1998 when they started showing couture in Paris, unleashing such extreme looks as their “atomic bomb” silhouette. They launched ready-to-wear in 2000, and today their range of products includes a perfume with L’Oreal, scarves, underwear and eyewear. The duo also designs for Italian rainwear and outerwear specialist Allegri.

For complete coverage, see tomorrow's WWD.

victor & Rolf for H&M...hmmmm

I would love it if they stay true to their design aesthetic and creatic radical clothing. They should shock the world by introducing artistic fashion into the simplistic and safe clothing that is H&M. I hope they take it and produce a heart attack of a collection rather then a flat line. But I fear it won't happen, because that would be a dream come true. One can dream though, no.

:)

I'm pretty excited to see what the collection will look like and I'm crossing my fingers for something nice. Allthough I'm pretty sure it'll be hard to get something, they're really well known around here (I live in the Netherlands...).

I'm glad that it's now confirmed that it will be a design collaboration and that it will include menswear. Although I'm not that familiar with Viktor & Rolf, I'm still very interested what they will come up with. Hope there will be some nice accessories and so, and of course that I will get my hands of it.

A rare thing coming from my mouth, but I hope they're schizophrenic. Choosing the commercial track to win money, so as to be able to invest more in imaginative projects. Fashion-wise I pretty much dropped my hopes a couple seasons ago, but that doesn't take away it's fun to see what spectacles they come up with next.
As for H&M... it'll go down a bomb. :innocent:

Feel the same..H&M is rising to the top..!

Love it

I actually meant it in a bad way because I'm very wary about this collaboration. Scott: You're right about their intents with globalisation but I still think this is a poor way of doing it. I'm not impressed with how H&M handle these designer collaborations from their press and distribution to the designs themselves. Not to say I didn't succumb the first two times round - I bought a Karl sequin jacket and the Stella trench - the most distinct items I could find from the collections. I thought it was silly to be b*tch-fighting over a Stella key-ring or a Karl plain white shirt......
And if V&R's collection is along the lines of their La Redoute stuff - as in, quite safe with little distinct design elements (I'm sure it's quite nice quality though as Soft said) then again I don't see the point of people fighting over it and for H&M to be making so much money out of it as well!

Ok.....ppl are so gonna disagree with me now....

i think H&M's investors will be furious if it is as limited as stella's items were.
H&M has had really crappy sales these last few months.

Totally agree with you Susie. V+R are TOO conceptual for H+M - they aren't Stella or Karl. I'll reserve judgement till the pieces swing from the rails - but I'm not convinced. I doubt half H+M's market even know who V+R are, let alone how they design....

Have you actually seen their clothes in stores? It's all very very commerical. Their runway shows are just marketing gimmicks. I think they fit in well with H&M.

Hopefully it'll be good...I'd like to see some radical ideas for H&M...even if they are gimmicky, it'll still be more interesting than some plain white shirt or some trendy skirts...also will it be for men or women?
