VINTAGE Jewelry...

Here are some interesting examples of jewelry from the 80s. Good jewelry from the 80s was often characterized by bold shapes, neo-Art Deco designs, minimalism, and industrialism. Bad 80s jewelry looks like it's from Dynasty! I hope others have similar items to share.

fashion.fashoff, those are fabulous. I love the enamel pins.

Yves Saint Laurent has the most amazing jewelry!
I own some vintages pieces of YSL, very gold, very 90s kitsch, álmost too much... but so so right with a simple black dress.

My favorite is a golden clasp bracelet, very chunky with different rich deep colors green, red, orange, blue stones in the bright bright gold. Such a stunner!

Some of my vintage jewellery, I collect together with my sister.

This bracelet I bought in Afghanistan.

Tubai, I love that Afghanistan cuff!! I have a ring that will match right with that...

I see bracelets like this - thickness of the band, material and design on it varies - all the time at antique flea markets... sorry I don't have a better pic so you have to deal with D.V.... is there a specific name for them and when did they get popular?

I live in The Netherlands. And you see those bracelets here a lot. We call it a " Slaven Armband" Littarly translation in English is " Slave bracelet" .

Vintage Jewelry Costume Versus Name Brand

I love both costume jewelry and name brand items. My mother has some nice costume items since she could not afford the big name brand ones like Cartier, Tiffany, ect.

Here are some nice old vintage ads for both:

Harry Winston in the first one and Mauboussin ads from ebay and webstore.com.

Then, comparitively, a Coro ad from ebay and a Bergere ad from webstore.com:

Both are fabulous, don't you think?
