^well you won't tell from your posts (I follow your blog too :)), everything you wear looks sooo amazing!
But I don't give up, someday I'll find the perfect vintage dress!

I have bought a wonderful vintage dress some time ago. Obviously, it's not as fashionable as some dresses which we can buy in stores, but oooh I am sucker for it.

Vintage Glasses!

I've been collecting vintage glasses frames for a while now so thought I would share my latest purchase. These date back to the 50's, by a company called Tart Optical. This is also the model that Brad Pitt wore in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

^that's so true
there are times that I want to buy the whole store and others when I can't find anything
But now it's great vintage shoptime here in Antwerp,
there's a secondhand store who sells all the clothes for 1€ a piece. They do that every three months or so... :) I've bought 5 dresses yesterday!!

Secondhand stores are sometimes a home to precious treasures! You just have to dig for long enough! :D
I have been lucky enough to find 3 amazing vintage vests. Love 'em! :)

If anyone is in the UK, Topman has a selection of vintage clothing for guys. It's the first major high street store I've seen to offer a vintage selection. Not sure if Topshop has the same for women, but might be worth checking out!

i don't want to wear someone's smelly old clothes...:yuk:

:ninja:...

i do like dead stock though...
stuff that was never sold and never worn and just sat in a warehouse for ages...
THAT is cool...
imho...

:p

the smell is what really puts me off too :ermm:

i wandered into a shop on newbury street in boston about a week ago and couldn't concentrate on the clothes for the smell..

^ Hmmm ... I don't wear vintage now just because I had plenty of experience with it when I was younger. And it's hard enough to find something that fits properly in stores where they have every item in every size! Patience is like money, spend it wisely ...

But I like to antique (I do open drawers and doors and check the smell!), and come across vintage dealers that way. Some of them have everything clean and laundered and absolutely pristine.

I never liked vintage shoes ... I think we leave our imprint on all our clothes, but especially shoes. I think it's important to have them mold to your own foot from the get go ...

Of course, there are lots of things in consignment and vintage stores that have never been worn. Not just dead stock, but stuff that's hung in people's closets ... or these days, things bought specifically for the purpose of selling to the consignment shop.

I really don't think the smell is all that bad. You wash it once and it's gone. A lot of good vintage places wash their clothes before they put them on the rack, too, so they don't smell. Plus, when you buy stuff retail people have tried it on time after time after time. Sometimes they don't wear proper undergarments when they try stuff on. So you're not exactly buying virginal things when you don't buy vintage or thrift.

The mold left in someones shoes is exactly the reson why I could never buy vintage shoes. Not just for resons of fit/hygeine, but it just seems... creepy (for want of a better word), I would permantly feel like an imposter wearing them. Maybe I'm just odd.
